Song
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Kingdom Hearts, Demyx, Zexion, or a piano. Just the idea for this one shot.
Pale fingers glided over the white keys, occasionally striking the black keys. It was a slow, mournful song, barely any dynamics. Just kept that same andante speed and mezzo piano level. The song itself was bleak and empty. Just like the castle the pianist was trapped inside of.
The song started to decrescendo and soften, signaling the end of that song and the beginning of another. Tucking a strand of hair behind his left ear, the young man kept playing mournful songs that could never truly be mournful.
"I never knew you played anything at all, Zexy."
Turning to the door frame, he saw one of his fellow members. He was three ranks below him, making him the ninth out of thirteen. His hair was a light brown, could even be considered dirty blonde, and had blue eyes that held a shadow of playfulness and slight naïveté. He walked over to the piano were the blue haired man was sitting upright at.
"But I do have to say something about your playing," said the ninth member.
The young pianist, Zexion, cocked and eyebrow and asked haughtily, "Oh really? Well, maybe the Melodious Nocturne can give me a few pointers. How about it, Demyx?" Zexion was quite confident in his piano playing and took pride in it. He was not about to let some imbecile tell him how to play his music.
Demyx just stood there, not sure how to answer.
"Well?" Zexion pressed on.
"I...I can't." said Demyx, holding a look of sadness. Well, a fake sadness to be correct. Nobodies didn't have emotions.
"How come?" inquired the older member, looking up at Demyx.
The younger one didn't answer. Instead, he sat down on the piano bench, next to Zexion. He placed his gloved hands on his lap and stared at them.
"Zexion, do you think..." Demyx trailed off, afraid of the answer he might get.
"Do I think what?" Zexion asked flatly.
"When we do get hearts and become whole... Do you think we'll all be together?" asked Demyx in a coy tone that Zexion had never heard him use before.
Zexion closed his eyes and thought seriously about Demyx question. The first thing to pop up into the Cloaked Schemer's mind was that they probably wouldn't get hearts and become whole, but there was always that slight possibility that they could. That slight possibility was the main motivation behind the whole organization.
Demyx raised his head, starting to get impatient with Zexion's silence. "... Well? Do you think we'd all be together once we're whole?"
Opening his eyes, he stared at Demyx's bright blue eyes with his deep indigo one, and answered, "No. We all will go our separate ways."
"Oh..." Was all Demyx had to say. He went back to staring at his gloves and slouched, regretting his question.
"But," Zexion said, making Demyx look back up at him, "if you want. I'll stay with you. I'm still curious as to why you would want to critique my playing."
Demyx's expression brightened and he grinned. "Really? Thanks. It means a lot, Zexion. Truly."
"You're welcome. Now, what was it that you wanted to say about my playing?" asked Zexion, getting back to their first subject.
Grinning, Demyx said, "I just thought that it could use a nice voice to accompany it."
A/N: Okay then. Just had to write something to calm me down. I'm beginning to get addicted to one-shots. O3O So, I've decided to take a break from the others and just write some one-shots for the time being.
I'll take requests if you want me to do so. Just review and give me an idea to use, I will credit whoever had the idea. :3 Though, I will take my time with them. School starting, so less time on computer.
Thanks for reading! ;D
