I have officially dubbed myself Oneshot Woman! Everyone, bow to my awesome power! Nah, just kidding; I'll settle for a review instead!

So, I had to pick a song to sing for my youth group, and I was looking through old piano books. I found this song called "The Second Star to the Right" from Disney's "Peter Pan". I absolutely love that movie… (sighs)

Disclaimer: I own neither the song, the movie, nor the characters.

The Second Star to the Right

A soft breeze danced in through the window, which by habit more than anything, still remained open, even though it was winter now. A light dusting of powdery snow gave the city an ethereal feeling, as if it had suddenly transported to Neverland.

The second star to the right shines in the night for you

Wendy pushed the window up a little further, ignoring the snowflakes that laced her blonde curls. Gazing up at the sky, she searched the million shining pricks of light for one star…

To tell you the dreams you plan really can come true

When she told Peter she wanted to come home, at the time, she had meant it. She had dreamed of her parents, her old home, the safety and security of English traditions. Now, she wasn't so sure.

The second star to the right shines with a light that's rare

Aha—she found it. The star that shone brighter than any other in the sky seemed to look upon her with grief and pity. Wendy was lonely, and there was an empty space in her heart.

And if it's Neverland you need, its light will lead you there

She needed Peter Pan. She needed him, the Lost Boys, Tinker Bell, just Neverland in general. Flying home that night seemed to be the worst mistake of her life, and boy, was she regretting it. Scooping up a handful of snow, she blew it onto the breeze, hoping that it would carry all the way to that special place in the sky.

Twinkle, twinkle little star so I'll know where you are

Wendy made a wish that night. "Peter, come find me again."

Gleaming in the skies above

Her eyes watched the star, her breathing soft. Cold fingers clenched the windowsill, hoping and praying that the playful boy would appear out of the dark sky.

Lead me to the one who loves me

She didn't realize it until it was too late, but she loved him. She loved Peter Pan. The boy who never wanted to grow up; Now, she didn't want to grow up either. She wanted to stay in Neverland with the one who she loved forever.

And when you bring him my way

A shadow darted in front of her eyes, and the Darling child blinked. "Peter?" she thrust her head out farther, the piled snow soaking through her nightgown. Ignoring this, she impatiently pushed her hair away from her shoulders, searching the air. Up, and down—below her.

Each time we say goodnight.

"Wendy, I can't come to you now. But I will—I promise." Wendy drew in a sharp breath at the oh-so-familiar voice. Her heart pounded, and she closed her eyes, trying to keep his words inside her.

"Goodnight…" A soft hand brushed against her cheek, stroking her hair, but when she opened her eyes, there was nothing there.

We'll thank the little star that shines,

Even though she didn't see him that night, Peter had given her the greatest gift she could've asked for. Hope. "Thank you…" she whispered, leaving the window and sliding underneath her covers. Giving a small sigh, she slipped into a peaceful sleep, dreaming of lands where one never grows old.

The second from the right

After all, she could gaze at the second star to the right every night after this, now knowing he'd come back for her…someday…

The End.

I hope that wasn't too sappy, but I thought it was cute. Who'd have thought I would ever write a Peter Pan story? Hmmm…

Please review.
