Sonic leaned back in his chair and sighed. It had been awhile since he and Shadow saved the world, again, and he decided that it was time to catch up on his reading since his roommate was nowhere in sight.

"Ah, an afternoon alone with my favorite book, Broadway Musicals Of The 1940s. No roommate to bother me. How could it get any better than this?" The blue hedgehog sighed. SLAM

"Oh, hi, Sonic!"

"Hi, Shadow." Sonic growled in aggravation. Why did Shadow always come home at the exact time that he picked up his book?

"Hey Sonic, you'll never guess what happened to me on the subway this morning. This guy was smiling at me and talking to me…"

"Oh, that's very interesting." Sonic said, not giving a care in the world.

"Yeah, he was being real friendly, and I think he was coming on to me. I think he might've thought I was gay!" Shadow said excitedly, pointing at himself. Sonic fell out of his chair anime-style.

"Ahem, so, uh, why are you telling me this? Why should I care? I don't care. What did you have for lunch today?" Sonic asked, picking himself up off the floor.

"Oh, you don't have to get all defensive about it, Sonic-"

"I'm NOT getting defensive!"

"Aaa!"

"What do I care about some gay guy you met, okay? I'm trying to read." Sonic said. Why is it that Shadow has all this energy in the afternoons and Sonic feels like shit?

"Oh, I didn't mean anything by it, Sonic. I just think it's something we should be able to talk about." Shadow said, looking hurt. He hoped he didn't offend his roommate.

"Well, I do not want to talk about it, Shadow! This conversation is over!" Sonic said angrily.

"Yeah, but, Sonic-" Shadow began.

"OVER!"

"Well, okay, but just so you know —

If you were gay,

That'd be okay.

I mean 'cuz hey,

I'd like you anyway."

"Ugh…" Sonic groaned.

"Because you see,

If it were me,

I would feel free To say that I was gay. But, I'm not gay."

"Shadow, please! I am trying to read…" Sonic said. Shadow sat in his lap and stared at him. "What?" Sonic asked.

"If you were queer." Shadow said, poking his roommate's nose.

"Ah, Shadow!" Sonic said, smacking Shadow's hand away.

"I'd still be here."

"Shadow, I'm trying to read this book!"

"Year after year."

"Shadow!"

"Because you're dear to me." Shadow sang, tapping Sonic's chest three times.

"Augh!"

"And I know that you,"

"What?"

"Would accept me too,"

"I would?"

"If I told you today,

'Hey, guess what? I'm gay!'

But I'm not gay!

I'm happy just being with you,"

"High button shoes. Pal Joey."

"So what should it matter to me,

What you do in bed with guys?"

"Shadow! That is gross!"

"No, it's not!

If you were gay,"

"Agh…"

"I'd shout, HOORAY!"

"I am NOT listening!"

"And here I'd stay,"

"La, la, la, la!"

"But I wouldn't get in your way!"

"Aaaah!"

"You can count on me,

To always be,

Beside you every day,

To tell you it's okay,

You were just born that way!

And as they say,

It's in your DNA,

You're gay!"

"I am NOT gay!"

"If you were gay!"

"Aaah!" Sonic slammed his book shut and stormed into his room. Shadow looked around.

"What? What did I say?"

JK: The song was If You Were Gay from Avenue Q. The only parts that weren't in the song were, the last line, and Sonic and Shadow really didn't sing it. Later!
