A/N: Just some NaruSaku fluff. They are maybe 18 or 19 here, and just started dating.

Stretched out on the damp grass, staring up at the wide blue sky with a smattering of white clouds, Sakura sighed.

"Why are we doing this, Naruto? I've got work at the hospital that needs done," she asked her boyfriend and former teammate. "You told me it was urgent and dragged me out of the door when I was about to leave."

Her head was tilted back looking at Naruto from an odd angle on the ground. He turned his head to look back down at her, the customary huge grin on his face.

"I wanted to see why Shikamaru liked doing this so much," he replied, completely ignoring the part where Sakura was late for work. "Why he finds it so interesting."

Sakura sighed again, but grinned and turned to look back at the sky, resigned to being late to work for him. Naruto smiled even wider, and looked back at the sky, too.

They were quiet for a while, listening to the wind blow through the grass and the cloth rustle when they moved, and watching white tufts float across the sky. Naruto, unable to stand the quiet any longer, opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again after looking at Sakura once more.

She's beautiful, he thought, still amazed he was aloud to do things like this with her, not as a teammate. He was trying to be cautious, unsure of what he was and wasn't allowed to do yet. He opened his mouth to tell her something again, but this time she beat him to it.

"I'm happy, Naruto," Sakura stated dreamily, still staring at the sky.

Naruto blinked, unsure what to do with that statement. Does she mean she's happy like 'la de da,' or, or, with me, or…He went into overdrive, attempting to decipher what she meant, and answer her.

The silence stretched on.

Sakura didn't seem to notice his lack of response, but turned to look at him again, contented look on her face.

"Really happy," she added, and reached out for his hand. He cautiously put his hand in hers, and smiled down at her, tentatively. He didn't care what she meant, because it only mattered that she was happy.

"Shikamaru was missing out," Naruto told her, mood suddenly changing.

"Why?" Sakura asked, wondering what was with the sudden change of topic.

"Because," he grinned at her mischievously, "You are the best part of watching the clouds."

Sakura laughed, squeezing his hand. Naruto grinned even wider, then realized what time it was.

"Oh no! You're more than an hour late!" he panicked, sitting up, still holding her hand tightly.

Sakura laughed again, and pulled him back down."It's okay, Naruto. Tsunade would never actually fire me. She won't even be mad, really."

He was pacified by that statement, and happily fell back beside her. They were silent for a moment, enjoying the other's proximity. Then Naruto rolled over to whisper in her ear.

"I'm happy, too."
