Title: Till Sleep Do Us Part

Author: Billy

Summary: In Response to Quick Pick – Sleep – (Second Response) this is my other idea. From the episode "Till Death Do Us Part" when they sleep in the van, I just can't remember if Murdock took first watch or not. I think he did. The scene is in the night before Hannibal opens up the back of the van and wakes everyone up.

Warnings/Notes: usual A Team banter, snippet in the van ;o) - words 482

"Pull in here, BA."

It was late and dark and BA pulled the van off the road and drove it as far as he could along some grass verge and parked it out of sight behind some bushes. As he did so he heard a loud clunk. The passengers in the back of the van didn't notice, but Hannibal and BA did.

"Ah, man!"

"Worry, about it in the morning, BA," Hannibal said, trying to reassure him. "Let's get some rest. Murdock you take first watch and get me up around three."

"Aye, aye, Colonel." Murdock jumped out of the side door of the van and headed up to the main road to take up his watch position.

"Oh, Hannibal, not another night in the van," Amy moaned grumpily.

"Sorry, kid, but it's the only safe option we have."

There was no light in the van, other than the moonlight shining in.

"Hey, at least you ladies get to actually lie down," Face grumbled in his seat, as he took off his jacket and placed it over him, to keep his whole body warm. Amy and Jackie made a sort of bed at the back of the van and clambered in pulling a blanket over themselves.

"Doesn't mean it's comfortable," Jackie chipped in, to support Amy's grumble.

"You want to try sitting in this thing!" Face replied, fidgeting in his seat to get himself comfortable. "BA, why don't these seats recline back further huh?"

"Face, you ain't got to put up with the steering wheel, and you got more leg room, so shut up!"

"You sure you ladies, couldn't squeeze one more in? I'm sure there's room back there for three." Face tried his best persuasive voice; unfortunately they couldn't see his smile. "We could keep each other real warm."

"Oh, Darling, Amy and I are keeping ourselves warm enough as it is, but thanks for the offer," Jackie replied sarcastically.

Face groaned at that thought.

"Anyway, Face, I thought the military trained you to sleep pretty much anywhere. You've gotta have slept rougher than in a van before? You should be use to this by now," Amy teased.

"That was over 10 years ago, kid! I'm use a warm firm mattress, soft plump pillows, Egyptian cotton sheets…"

"Silk Jammies!" Hannibal pitched in, chuckling as he said it. Jackie and Amy quietly chuckled and a distinct childish giggle could be heard from BA's direction.

Face wasn't amused by the laughter that was aimed at him and fell silent. And with that everyone decided they too should at least try to also stay silent to get some sleep. Then someone spoke, breaking the silence.

"Hey, if Murdock was here, he'd be saying to us all, Goodnight John Boy…" Face did his best Walton's impression but wasn't allowed to carry on.

"Oh, Face, knock it off!" Amy snapped. "We're trying to get to sleep!"
