"Bitten by the Snake"

Sakura rolled onto her side and focused on calming her breath. Behind her she could hear Sasuke panting, which brought a small smirk to her face despite her tiredness. It was the same every night, every time. She could never get enough of him. She would run them both ragged and still need – still want.

At first she had attributed it to holding out sexually until he was brought back. Oh, she'd had offers, but she wanted Sasuke-kun, and anyone else was just a cheap substitute. But that had been months ago. Was it a subconscious need to make up for all the years together they had been deprived of? She didn't know. All she knew was that she wanted at least one more go that night.

But it didn't stop when they were apart. She was constantly thinking of new things to do, or different way to try old tricks. When she went out on missions she had started sleeping further away from her teammates so as not to be overheard during the night. Ino had told her on several occasions that they way she looked at Sasuke from afar or in passing weren't casual glances – never mind looks of affection. "The green in your eyes turns a shade darker and your whole faces changes into the perfect example of wanton expression," was what the blonde kunoichi had said.

Drawing her eyes up to the mirror on the closet door she was facing she knew exactly what Ino meant. She turned onto her stomach and faced Sasuke, whose breathing had slowed, lying on his back with his naked chest exposed to the moonlight pouring in from the opened window. His left arm was slung around his hips and the black ink of his summoning tattoo was easily visible.

It dawned on Sakura that the problem might not be hers, but Sasuke's. The boy was toxic – he'd affected her since the moment they first met when they were nearly freshly graduated from diapers – he was in her very soul, destroying her from the inside.
