A Choice Between Sides

He looked down at the bottle worn field. His eyes were tired and sad. His mop of black hair was spread across his forehead.

"So, it has come to this," Harry said. His voice rang through the air so both sides of the field could hear clearly. To his left was Hogwarts and the forces of light led by Dumbledore and the worn out Order. The old man looked at him patiently.

"Yes, Harry, you must choose," Dumbledore told her. "Please make the right choice."

On the other side of the field, stood the forces of evil led by none other that Draco Malfoy sitting astride a brilliant black horse. Draco's determined face was framed by his soft blonde hair and fierce grey eyes. Draco grinned maliciously.

"Yes, Potter… Harry, come to me. Make the right choice," he laughed. He reached a pale, perfect hand to his face and flicked a strand of blonde out of his eyes. "Do you really want to give yourself selflessly to end up killed? Come, I will protect you."

"No!" Dumbledore shouted. "He wants you to be selfish, just like him. It will be your downfall, too. Come to us, we can fight together."

Harry examined both leaders closely. Carefully, he closed his eyes, hiding his bright green eyes. He thought about what each man had said. He could go with Dumbledore, be good and selfless and fight, knowing he would die. Or he could go with Draco Malfoy and be protected, be safe. He didn't want to die, no one did. He could be selfish and go with the handsome Draco and his magnificent horse or he could be selfless and fight to die. The choice was hard. But in the end, it all came down to his choice. Finally Harry had his mind made up. He knew what he would do. Slowly he opened his eyes, revealing his green orbs once again. He looked resolutely at both sides.

"The choice is hard, to be selfless or selfish," he began. Both sides of the field were silent. Not even a rustle came from the dark trees. "Really, for me, the choice is between life and an uncertain death. I have given so much to the light. I gave everything. I was selfless in a war I never wanted to fight. Now it's my turn to be selfish. It's my turn to do something for myself." He smiled apologetically at Dumbledore before making his way to Draco. Draco's handsome face smiled at him and pulled him onto his horse. Harry settled himself comfortably in front of Draco as Draco wrapped his arms around Harry to reach the reins. Draco turned the stallion around to face the Forbidden Forest. Just as Harry felt the familiar tug of a portkey made of the horse's reins, he felt a warm breath by his ear.

"Good choice…" Draco's soft voice whispered.
