Disclaimer: I do not own the Pendragon series or the characters. I don't even own the computer I'm writing on.

You said that you loved me.

You said you knew how I felt.

You said that soon, one day, this nightmare on Quillan will end.

I believed you, Press.

You took me to the territories. You taught me how to swim in the amazing oceans of Cloral. You taught me how to drive gigs in the vast jungles of Eelong and dygos on the oasis of Zadaa. You took me to the three Earth territories and introduced me to the world you grew up in. You showed me Lifelight on Veelox.

We traveled, we laughed and we loved.

At least, you said we did.

You lied to me, Press.

You said that all the territories have a turning point and that we, the Travelers, have to make sure they turn in the right direction.

But the thing is, Press, they weren't turning points.

They were decisions made by people. People who just wanted to help. People like me. Those people weren't heroes or villains. They had lives that they wanted to improve. They had reasons for making such decisions.

You said that you loved me.

Love doesn't exist, it's just a word that we use sometimes, when we feel guilty of our own unsatisfied greedy minds. There isn't any love, just desire. Saint Dane didn't lie to me about that. He never said that he loved me, but I'm with him just the same.

Pendragon came, Press.

He reminded me of you, and me. He believes what you tried to make me believe. He tries to see good in everyone, yet he sees only evil in Saint Dane. Strange, isn't it? He sees the world in black and white. He doesn't realize yet that there is no black or white, only different shades of grey. He doesn't realize that he's trying to create a rainbow of greyness. He doesn't realize that some people, like Saint Dane, like me, are trying to form one solid colour of grey, so there would be no more territories, no difference, no colour, no need. Just Halla itself and one world to live in.

You lied to Pendragon too, didn't you?

He doesn't know what he's fighting for. He failed his quest here. And he will fail again, because he does not yet understand.

I'm not sure I do, but at least I know the truth.

Twisted, yes, but it's still the truth.
