Chapter One: A Mysterious Package
On a cold rainy July day, seventeen year old Lily Evans was finishing her summer homework and thinking about her return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where she would be starting her seventh and final year, when a mysterious owl flew through her window carrying a strange package. Being the curious girl that she was, she opened it and found that it contained seven books; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Upon seeing the titles of the books she wondered if he was related to James Potter, and therefore decided to invite him over to ask him.
Thus with that intent in mind, Lily walked down the stairs and into the kitchen to ask her mother if she could invite Potter over for a few days.
"Mum can I have a friend over for a while?" she asked.
"Sure, Lily but may I ask who?" her mother responded.
"I was thinking, perhaps, James," Lily answered.
"James, as in James Potter, the boy you can't stop complaining about?" her mother asked startled.
"Yes, that's him, may I invite him to visit please mum!" Lily re-interrogated.
"Lily, I already said you could, dear," her mother replied while chuckling.
After that Lily headed into the living room in order to call James on the Floo Network. She lit a fire in the chimney grate and sprinkles a pinch of Floo Powder over it while saying, "Potter Residence". The next minute her head was looking into the Potters' sitting room where seventeen year old James Potter was polishing his broomstick. Lily cleared her throat startling him.
"Lily, what are you doing here?" he asked.
"James can you stay at my house for a few days, there is something I want to show you?" she answered him.
"Sure, I'll be right over," he told her.
With that said he left the room and Lily turned away from the fire in order to prepare the guest room and to fetch the books about Harry Potter. As she was picking them up, she glanced a look at the back of the first one, which read:
Harry Potter has never played a sport while flying on a broomstick. He's never worn a cloak of invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All Harry knows is a miserable life the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. Harry's room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in eleven years.
But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to a wonderful place he never dreamed existed. There he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic around every corner, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him... if Harry can survive the encounter.
That caught her attention and while she pondered the meaning of it, James arrived. Suddenly Lily felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned around to find James looking at her with confusion.
"You wanted to show me something Lily?" James asked.
"Yes, James, it's this book, look at it, and I sort of was wondering if you were related to him?"Lily told him while handing him the book.
"To tell you the truth Lily, I'm not sure but why not read it to see," James suggested.
Then he started to read:
