"Miss." Gwyneth stood bashfully beside Rose as she spoke of boys and her world. "It wasn't Mr. Sneed who…" She looked away as realisation dawned on Rose.

"So you're the one with wandering hands?" She smirked, surprisingly comfortable around the woman who had groped her.

"I…I didn't mean to." She flushed. Then a small smile crept on to her freckled face. "You're not bashful miss. Not at all…and neither was Shareen…" This time it was Rose's turn to blush as she remembered the brief kiss she'd shared with her friend while skipping school.

"How do you know about that?" Rose couldn't understand how a girl from the 19th century could possibly know about her kissing Shareen round the back car park of Asda.

"I have a gift Miss. I can see inside people's minds. Their memories, their thoughts…their feelings. I can show you if you like?" She held her hand out tentatively, unsure of how Rose would react to her offer. But Rose was a companion of the Doctor, she had seen things no other human beings could understand, and her curiosity would never allow her to pass up the chance to experience something new.

She took hold of Gwyneth's hand, staring her in the eye as she did so, trying to prove she wasn't afraid, but the young Welshwoman could feel the fear and apprehension radiating from her.

"It's alright." Gwyneth whispered as their fingers interlaced. "It won't hurt." She pulled her closer, using her other hand to keep her flush against her. Her lips found their way to the younger woman's in a crushing kiss. She had no chance to react as the world around them faded out and suddenly they were inside one another, seeing and experiencing everything the other had, and feeling just as much.

Among the blur of memories and emotions Rose's mind pulled her to the strongest emotion within the other woman. Love. Concentrating on the feeling seemed to spur Gwyneth on as she deepened the kiss between them. The kiss was intense and overwhelming, threatening to completely over come the two women.

The link between them subsided, locking them out of each other's mind, but the memories of the experience stayed within them. Gwyneth went to pull away, but was stopped as Rose grabbed her wrists and pulled her back to her. This time the kiss turned in to something more as Rose's tongue gently coaxed its way in to Gwyneth's mouth. Her eyes widened at the strange action, but she didn't pull away. It wasn't until they heard the Doctor calling that they finally separated. "Do you believe in love at first sight?" Gwyneth asked her breathlessly, she didn't give Rose a chance to reply. "I do. I'm glad I got to love someone, even if it's only for a short while… Don't be upset. It's for the best in the end." And with that she left her in the washroom and headed to the parlour where the Doctor waited.

After it was over, when the aliens had lost and the Doctor triumphed, as it always should be, Rose finally understood Gwyneth's cryptic message. She had known she was going to die and she'd walked bravely to her execution. There was nothing Rose could have done to stop her, she'd seen Rose's entire life and had sacrificed her own so that Rose and those she loved could have their world with metal boxes rushing by and flying in the air above them. So Rose could return to her mother and her world, leaving behind memories of the nineteenth century, all but Gwyneth and her gift.
