Authoress' Notes:

I know this isn't exactly angst, but... well, it sort of is! Anyways, that's the best way I could think of to describe it.

Well, this is actually from a dinky little comic I started about Akabane-sama. I figured that, seeing as how I'm not doin' too well finishing that, I'd make it into a oneshot and see what people think of the plotline, at least.

For this fic, Akabane-sama has always had his scalpels, just because. Oh, and they glow, like in the anime. Yay!

DISCLAIMER: I DUN OWN ANYTHING!

MINE

The kindergarten classroom was filled with noise. A castle was being built in the corner with wooden blocks, modeling clay became dinosaurs and volcanoes, and in the corner little kids sat on brightly colored pillows, reading the cheerful picture books that sat on the bookshelves.

Off to the side, one child was alone. Akabane Kurodou lay on the ground, smiling. He laughed happily, swinging his legs up in the air as he lay on his stomach playing with a little white toy car. He giggled as he "drove" the car back and forth, back and forth.

Even at age five, Akabane still wore his customary garb. Black dress pants, white dress shirt and black tie were topped off by a small black trench coat. A small black hat was on top of his unruly mane of dark hair.

He made the car go up the side of a bookcase, laughing all the while. He decided to "drive" it down to the floor and along the carpet. But just as the car's wheels reached the edge of the carpet, a hand came down to push his away from the car. He watched as a small hand picked the car up, and he looked up into the eyes of Kaimoto Michi.

Kaimoto's blue eyes laughed as Akabane's violet ones widened in shock. "H-hey!" Akabane said. "That's mine!"

Kaimoto giggled. "Too bad! Finders keepers!" He'd always wanted to see Akabane cry. He was so annoying! He never got upset! But he loved the car, so Kaimoto had surely made him cry now!

Akabane's head lowered, until Kaimoto couldn't see the other boy's eyes through the dark hair, partially covered by the brim of his hat. Akabane murmured something, so soft that Kaimoto couldn't hear it. A tiny tear trickled down Akabane's cheek.

Kaimoto's eyes widened. He decided that he hadn't meant to actually make Akabane cry. "Huh?" he asked, wondering what Akabane had said.

Akabane's head stayed down, but a white-gloved fist slowly came up.

"I-" glowing scalpels flashed out onto his hand "said…"

And that was all that Kaimoto knew, because suddenly there was a flash of pain on his chest. "…I beg your pardon…" Akabane said. Looking down, Kaimoto felt his eyes widen as he saw a glowing red "J" carved onto his chest. He felt himself starting to fall as blackness closed over him.

The corpse landed at Akabane's feet. Akabane reached forward, prying open the dead fingers. He took the car out of the other boy's hand, straightening up.

Akabane tipped his hat to the corpse, smiling politely, and finished: "…but I believe that's MINE."

So, the name Kaimoto Michi… well, I find Domoto Kaito, from Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, rather annoying. So, I combined his names to make Kaimoto. As for Michi… in Negima! Takahata-sensei's given name is Takamichi. So, I took the "Michi" part from that.

Oh, random note: In the little comic, that car is a white bug. Inside are two mini figures: one has a brown urchinhead and dinky lil' purple sunglasses, and the other has spiky blonde hair and a big smile. I decided it looked cute for Akabane-sama to play with the GetBackers' car when he was little!

Anyways, please review?
