Authoress' Notes:

Well, here's my Valentine's Day fic! What, you think I'm bitter or something about being sixteen and never going on a date, or about falling in love 3 times now and every time having it end in heartbreak? Or maybe you think it's about the guy I like right now not seeming to notice and about my being too wimpy to ever say or do anything?

Never! -sarcastic-

Yeah, sorry 'bout the ranting. Valentine's Day is the worst day of the year, in my opinion.

Warning: Character death!

DISCLAIMER: I DUN OWN ANYTHING!

Happy Valentine's Day

Ginji stared, Ban gaped and Paul seemed at a complete loss for words. Kazuki and Shido, who had been talking a moment earlier, seemed shocked into silence, and Natsumi's hand sat on the table, still clutching her forkful of cake. No one said a word. The happy, noisy restaurant of a moment ago had suddenly turned solemn, stunned. And all because the door had opened.

Amazing how much simply walking in through a door could affect people, Akabane thought lazily. He was having trouble thinking, though. He'd told Ginji a week earlier that… well, that Akabane wasn't as strong as he'd once thought. But his confession had been greeted only with cold, hard silence as Ginji had groped for words, blushing.

Not that he cared. Akabane smiled. He decided to give his reason for being here, in this little café.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Ginji-kun."

Ginji blushed, but watched, horrified, as Akabane's body fell to the floor. The white-gloved hand released the roses clenched tightly within its fist, and the hat fell off of the wild mane of dark hair as Ginji rushed forwards, kneeling at Akabane's side. Ginji could do little but stare at the blood leaking out of the deep gashes all over Akabane's body- wounds cut into the shape of a heart.

As Akabane's vision began to dim, he saw Ginji's eyes watering. "Don't cry, Ginji-kun," Akabane murmured. He hurt. His cuts hurt, but worse was his heart. Akabane closed his eyes for a moment before reopening them, focusing his gaze on Ginji. Then, so softly that Ginji, crying, had to lean close to hear, he whispered, "I love you."

And then the light dimmed, and the pain was gone.

Yeah, sorry if that was a tad OOC and rather cliched. I just enjoy writing stories that present a twisted, suicidal, depressing side of Valentine's Day. Aren't I cheerful? n-n

Please review, and have an actually happy Valentine's Day!
