Saddest Smile
She had the saddest little smile. It made me want to cry, the way she would smile at him with that sad little smile and murmur to me about things that weren't overly motherly or important but that I will always keep at head, to bring out if I ever need it. I didn't understand why she was always leaving and when she came back why she was so sad.
But I was young then, and I didn't expect overly much from people, I just wanted to have some fun every once and awhile and to keep the smiles going. After all I was just a kid, with no family to speak off. Except with a purple haired woman with increasingly sad smiles and a green haired man with a smirk permanently plastered on his lips, and another who cooked the strangest things and a little dog for I chased around the living room, who followed me off ship and onto Earth.
But that's not important. I was talking about Faye, Faye Faye. It was the first time she had left us. The ship was in an uproar, she had stolen their money and Jet was angry and maybe worried I think, and Spike was indifferent. He didn't seem to care for her overly much but sometimes I could see him looking at her with the strangest looks; an indifferent affection. But he wasn't there for her this time, no one was. When Gren died it was the first time she was ever truly sad. I remember her whispering about he wasn't like anyone else and he had touched a part of her that she wasn't sure still existed in her. And then she smiled her sad smiled and told me not to tell anyone that she wasn't the shrew they all thought she was.
I think it was after that faze; when she was beginning to understand little by little or began to understand that she didn't know that much at all when she began to return Spike's mixed looks, she was falling for him and she didn't even realize it. It was obvious to everyone but me, Spike, and Faye herself. I wish I could have understood then, but as all things are it didn't seem like it was meant to be. I remember when Jet showed up on Earth with a smile and a serious voice, and how he told me he had some news. I remember how I wondered what he meant exactly and how Faye looked when she stepped off the ship to meet me, the same look that graced her face after Gren's death, except sadder on her face. She had the saddest little smile, and I wished I was a better little sister for her, so I could have annoyed her when she was grieving, so she could have smiled a little more.
Disclaimer: Nope.
Well for all those who are wondering this is in Ed's point of view about the past when she was older. Anyway I hope this was spur of the moment inspiratation that prbably has bad grammar mistakes. Bleh anyway please Read and Review.
