"Kurogane, what's your favorite color?"

Fye asked one night as they sat on the deck of a house they rented. The world Mokona had landed them in this time was a warm one, right along the coastline. Fye, having been from a winter-wonder land, loved it.

He bought them swim suits and everything (he sold their old clothes to the shop keeper, she was into things like that). But the day had died and the kids were asleep, leaving Kurogane with an idiot of a mage. The ninja frowned at the odd question.

"Red and black, I guess." he answered with a shrug.

"Oh? Is that why you were them so much?" Fye asked with a smile. One of those damn fake things that pissed off his companion.

"I guess... Why?"

Fye smiled softly, single blue eye squinting slightly, turning back to stare out at the ocean. "Someone told me that a person's favorite color... Can tell you a lot about them." he answered after a moment. "Kurogane, you ask me many times about many things... I have the feeling you just want to know me better..." Fye glanced at the ninja beside him for a thoughtful moment before looking back at the ocean. "I wanted to test that person's theory. I think they're right."

"... How?"

"... You like black and red." Fye stated. "Which wins in the long run?"

"Black."

"You're a strong person, Kurogane. You like to stand alone and tall, above others and you have a deep, richness that can engulf those around you. That richness has many forms, from your anger to you determination, but it's a reflection of your spirit." Fye paused, not looking away from the ocean and Kurogane didn't turn his surprised stare from him. "Red; your passion in fighting and everything that you hold dear. It's your driving force, so to speak, and you use it to your greatest advantage. Red if a very bright and vibrant color and it draws the eye no matter where it is. It's explosive, as is your temper and feelings. Your are fierce and quick, you push forward." He smiled at Kurogane, "Is that person right?"

"I'd say so..." Kurogane sighed.

"... Pale blues, silver, and white." Fye suddenly said. "Light colors are considered open and bright, but the harsh chill of the blue is like a knife. Piercing and cold, you are quick to act and can worm your way out of many things. Dodging the bullet is a natural thing and your style is crisp and affective. Silver; steel or other metals. Hard and quite calculating, you are able to think critically as well as creatively. However..." Fye trailed off. Then he shook his head and continued, "White; a pure blend of the rainbow. White is seen as two things: purity or ice. In this case, it's ice. Cold and hard, you don't let people near you and like to stand there and pretend to be something you're not, like water or a crystal. But you're not a liquid nor are you stable enough in warmth to be a crystal, so in an effort to find balance yourself, you..." Fye glanced at Kurogane then stood and walked back inside.

"... You smile."
