Naruto lay in her bed and sighed sadly. 'What am I going to do?' It was late in the night, almost midnight. She lay quietly in her bed and sighed. The other occupants of the house were asleep by now, so there's no one that she can talk to about this. 'I can't talk about this anyway,' Naruto thought. 'After transferring to this new school, it would be unfair to make the other's worry about something else having to do with me.'
Naruto got out of bed and walked downstairs, making sure to avoid all of the stairs that she knew would squeak along the way. She walked into the kitchen, took out the milk from the fridge and poured it in a glass. After putting the milk carton back in the fridge she sat down in one of the chairs in the kitchen, troubled. She was in trouble and she didn't know if there was a way to get out of it.
What happened to her in Suna was caught on video and it was on the internet. Even if those girls kept their promise and didn't tell others about it, there was no way to guarantee that others from her new school didn't stumble onto it once they looked on YouTube and recognize her. And even if she could find a way to delete it, there would be no point. Once the video hit the internet, the damage is done. Who knows how many people saw it. Naruto desperately fought the tears that wanted to run freely. 'What am I going to do?'
One person watched Naruto in the kitchen. Gaara stayed at the top of the stairs so that the girl wouldn't notice his presence. He knew that something was wrong... he knows something happened in that bathroom. 'Why do these things seem to happening to Naruto in a bathroom?' Gaara asked himself. He knew the answer; to make sure that he wouldn't be able to protect her. Moments like these made Gaara wished he was a girl; at least then he would be able to protect her more efficiently.
But that was not going to help this situation now. His older sister, Temari couldn't even get a word out of her and if she couldn't get Naruto to talk to her, Gaara knew he wasn't going to get anything out of Naruto either. With a heavy heart, he snuck back up to the stairs and into his room. He fell into a very difficult and fitful sleep.
With Sasuke...
Sasuke slowly walked over to school. He squared his shoulders back and made sure to look around him. He didn't want to be ambushed by the fangirls. A shiver went up his back at the thought.
Just when he was almost at the clear, his two biggest 'fans' made themselves known. God Sasuke just wished they would leave him alone...
"Oh Sasuke!" Sakura called, running in front of Sasuke.
Another girl with long blonde hair, Ino, pulled Sakura put of the way. "Good morning Sasuke," she purred. "How are you?"
Sasuke said nothing, just tried to walk past them both as they continued to get his attention. 'I don't have time for their nonsense right now.'
Just when he was a little distance away from the two fangirls, they started muttering to themselves. He was still close enough to hear what they were saying.
"Why isn't it working? We took care of that little problem, so that Sasuke would be mine..." Sakura.
"Yours? Keep dreaming big forehead girl! That boy is mine-!" Ino began to say. That was as much as Sasuke heard, but he assumed that they has already started their usual squabbling. He wouldn't have cared about what they had to say normally, but there was something about that conversation continued to bother him. Something about it just sounded... wrong, even as he was walking inside of the school building. 'I guess that lazy Shikamaru was correct after all. Seems that those two are at least responsible for the way Naruto was acting yesterday I wonder what it is they have on her?' Sasuke continued his way to class. 'Doesn't matter, I'll just put an end to it anyway.'
With Naruto and Gaara...
The two fourteen year olds went to English class. Gaara gave a sideways glance to the girl right next to him. Naruto continued to look down on the ground. The pair walked into the walked into the classroom, Ms. Umino smiled at the pair, but frown when she realized that they didn't seem to be in a happy mood. 'Gaara isn't really much of a surprise,' Iruka thought to herself. 'This seems to be Gaara's usual behavior, but Naruto seemed so much happier yesterday morning. I wonder what caused this drastic change…' Gaara took a seat right next to Neji Hyuga. Naruto walked towards the seat next to Sasuke Uchiha. Iruka was shocked when Sasuke looked up when the blond girl and smiled; the boy never looked so happy to see someone else. Naruto seemed to return the smile. Just when the girl was about to sit down, she stopped and flinched. Iruka furrowed her brow at the strange reaction. Naruto stood there for a moment more, looking at something past Sasuke's shoulders. 'What is she looking at?' Iruka followed Naruto's line of sight. Ino Yamanka and Sakura Haruno were both grinning maliciously at the new student.
Wait… Ino and Sakura… sitting together? In all the time Iruka has been teaching this particular class, it has always been made very clear that both girls never spoke to each other without there being a screaming match and the risk of physical violence. Iruka had a bad feeling about it. As soon as the two girls realized that there was an empty seat next to Sasuke, the girls immediately raced towards the seat, pushing each other in order to get closer.
"Get away Ino-pig!" Sakura screamed. "Sasuke is mine!"
"In your dream ugly, forehead girl!" Ino growled. "Sasuke only wants me!"
"No! Sasuke is mine!"
"Sasuke is mine! Back away."
Now this was the behavior Iruka was used to. The older woman sighed. 'It was too good to be true.' "Girls," Iruka called. "Please go sit in other seats now so I can just start in my class. Right now."
Everyone watched as the fuming girls reluctantly walked towards the empty seats that they were sitting in earlier, right next to each other. Sakura and Ino sat down, scowled and scornfully ignored each other. As immature as they were, Iruka was just glad she could begin her class now. "Alright class, now we're going to begin reading Jane Eyre soon. In order to prepare, I'm going to start with the Bronte sisters…"
Naruto briskly walked all the way to the back, before taking the only other available seat. Naruto quietly took out her notebook and pen. Iruka quickly began the lesson for the day, but Naruto couldn't hear any of it; she was feeling too much all at once. Depressed, scared, and angry. Naruto couldn't believe that she was being blackmailed by those stupid, petty little cows; now Sasuke has to think that she's some sort of bipolar person, and she can't even explain why to him why she has to avoid him. Her attack is on the internet being watched by who knows how many people. The very thought made her want to cry. 'Why didn't I just call out from school? I could have bought myself a week to hide in my room.' Naruto knows why; Temari, Gaara and Kankuro would know that she's not really sick, then they would want to know why she didn't want to go to school. Naruto sighed. 'I really need to stop thinking such depressing thoughts.' Naruto stole a glance at the other people next to her. Sitting at her left was a pale girl with short, bluish black hair and the lightest eyes Naruto have ever seen; these eyes seemed familiar, but held a level of anxiety that made Naruto feel just as tense. The girl seemed to shrink into herself, as if to make herself smaller, she was wearing a light jacket with long, lilac sleeves, dark blue pants and black converse sneakers. The girl continued to look down on the table and poke her fingers together, as if it were a nervous tick. 'Maybe she knows that I'm staring,' Naruto thought. Not wanting to make her uncomfortable, so she turned to her neighbor on the right. This was a boy who was almost as pale as the girl. He was a pile of brown, spiky hair and nothing else. He wore a long , light, green jacket with a very long collar that hid everything under his nose. Instead of eyes, he had dark sunglasses. 'How is it that I am sitting next to a guy I wouldn't be able to describe to anyone else?' Naruto thought. The guy was as non-descript as they came.
He must have sensed Naruto's scrutiny, because he suddenly turned to stare at her. Naruto continued to stare back unabashedly; she refused to back down. At some point, it became a staring contest between them. The hidden tension became some much, people around them began to notice. At some point, Iruka began to notice that a few of her students weren't paying her any attention anymore.
"Naruto? Shino?" Both students gave their teacher their attention. Iruka frowned disapprovingly. "Is there something there something that you both would like to share with the rest of us?"
Naruto ducked her head. "No Ms. Umino."
Shino reacted in no visible way, not even to answer.
"Then can you please stop distracting everyone else so I can continue with my class?" Iruka asked in a sarcastic manner. The class began giggling in the background. Naruto lowered herself into the seat, as if to make herself less noticeable. The boy, Shino, did not seem affected by all of this attention and just stared blankly as Iruka continued on with her lesson. After another twenty minutes, the bell finally rang. Some students yelled in relief as everyone got up from their seats. Naruto packed up her stuff and saw Gaara waiting by the door for her.
Sasuke slowly put his belongings away, hoping that he could catch Naruto; the girl would have to walk past his seat in order to get to the door and leave the classroom. It sounded like a good plan.
Most of the students had already left. The only ones left in the classroom at this point where Hinata, Shino, Naruto, Sasuke, Gaara, Sakura and Ino. The two fan girls were watching the "blond bimbo" to make sure she didn't try anything with their man. Iruka quickly wiped the black board eraser across the words she had written. The older woman then turned towards the rest of the classroom. "Naruto," she called. Naruto had started walking down the stairs. She had almost past Sasuke's seat. "Can I speak with you for a minute." Iruka finally noticed the other students that were loitering around in her classroom. "The rest of you please leave right now. I'm sure you have other classes that you need to attend." None of the others moved from their spot. "Get out now!" Everyone ran out of the classroom, leaving Naruto and Iruka alone in the classroom. The teenage girl walked towards her teacher, who was standing on her desk.
With Naruto and Iruka...
"You wanted to speak to me Ms. Umino?" Naruto asked.
Iruka sighed. "Naruto," she started. "This may seem strange, considering this is your second day in my class, but I have to be honest- I'm concerned about you."
Naruto raised an eyebrow. "If this is about what happened in class earlier-."
"It's not," Iruka said. "It has nothing to do with that. I have just noticed that you seem to be out of it today. Has something been bothering you lately?"
Naruto paused. A small part of her actually considered breaking down and telling her about what was going on with Sakura and Ino, but she knew that wasn't possible. "No, I'm fine." The words burned down her throat to say.
Iruka looked at her student. There was no way that she believed that Naruto was all right. Something was obviously wrong, but she couldn't very well force the truth out of the girl, even when that's exactly what she wants to do. "Alright, you can do Naruto. Just know that if there is anything that I want to talk about, I will always be right here to listen."
Naruto nodded and walked out of the classroom. No matter how much she wanted to tell Ms. Umino what was going on, Naruto knows that no one would be able to help her."
NOTE: Hello all. I finally updated after all this time; hopefully I will have another chapter to update soon.
