Dedicated to: CraftyNotePad. It took me a while but here's one for you.
I was listening to PJ Harvey's song 'Leaving on a Jet Plan' all day and finally this idea hit me. It's another simple and humble oneshot like my last one.

Ziiip!
Keely quickly jumped at the sudden sound. She rolled over and realized he was gone. Her hair was ruffled and her eyes were very cloudy with sleep. She sat up and looked around.
"Phil?"
Nothing.
Feeling her heart begin to cringe and slowly break, she frantically began pushing the covers off of her. She swung her legs out of bed and onto the cold hardwood.
"Phil?!" Her voice was strained and scared.
Ziiip!
Hearing the sound again she ran to the living room. He stood bent over rummaging through his bag. He zipped another bag and turned.
"Keels? What are you doing up?" He whispered.
"You were going to leave without saying goodbye?" She asked feeling forgotten.
"I didn't want to wake you." Phil said walking over to her. His shoes made the floor squeak.
Phil put his hand on her arm and pulled her to him. She fell into his embrace and sighed. He was warm and smelled of coffee and the local bakery down the street.
"You want anything? I can make you an egg? You know, one before I go?" Phil suggested.
"Ok." Keely nodded. She followed him into the kitchen.
Taking out a pan and two eggs he began making her breakfast. She watched him in silence. Their kitchen was fairly small but then it was only a measly little apartment. A house would come later.
The sun was slowly rising by the time he finished. The weather channel was on, they watched it together as Keely poked at her eggs and Phil sipped a glass of orange juice. The weather man smiled in his fancy suite and reported rain for the later afternoon. Keely sighed and looked at Phil.
"The taxi will be here soon." He reported standing.
"Don't go." Keely begged standing and walking after him.
"We've been over this." Phil frowned.
"Philly Willy, please!" Keely said. "Just stay."
"I can't"
"Sure you can, here." Keely said running over to his bags. "I'll even unpack for you."
Phil laughed weakly. "No Keels. This is important."
"More important then my want to keep you home?"
"Nothing is more important then you. But to have a 'home' I need to do this."
"We can live off my money." Keely smiled.
"You don't make much."
"So what!" Keely cried.
Phil shook his head. "I really hate to go."
"I know." Keely said softly.
"Will you wait for me?" Phil asked.
"Always." Keely said.
"And when I come back." Phil said sliding to her. "We'll make it officially."
"A real wedding?" Keely smiled.
"Yes." Phil said kissing her hand.
Beep! Beep!
"Don't! Don't!" Keely cried barring her head into his chest.
Phil hugged her tightly and pulled away. "I have too. It's only for a little while."
Keely laughed and wiped a tear away. "It won't be home without you."
"Nor will it in Boston." Phil sighed.
Beep! Beep!
Phil walked to the door, a suitcase in hand. He opened the door and went out. Keely ran to the window. She saw him walk out and jog down the three stone steps. She waved from the window.
Phil turned and smiled at her, waving back as the driver loaded the car.
"That you girl?" The taxi driver asked.
"Yea." Phil grinned. "That's my girl."
The yellow cab pulled away and Keely sighed. In an hour or so she'd have to get ready and go to the office. Later she'd come home to an empty house and wait for his call. But this was how it had to be. Just for now. They were building a life together. Slowly yet surely each brick being laid on.
