Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach or any related characters. Wow… my first Bleach fic. Amazing. Really, it is. I love reading the fics, but I never actually thought I would write one… or two for some reason. Anyway, on with the story. Here's a Chad/Karin for you that I hope is to your liking.

Gakkō Koi

School Love

Chad/Karin

"This sucks." Karin was never one to follow the crowd. She set her own rules and no one else's. But, something was strangely off. Everyone else seemed to be… different. Weird. It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that it was February 14th, could it? No, she shook her head, definitely not. But, some small part of her wondered…

All of the girls sat around giggling, making eyes at the boys. Karin had never done that. She had never felt the need to do that. Plus, no boy would turn his head to look at her. She wasn't all that pretty. Yuzu could be left being the pretty one. Karin would rather hang out with the guys than flirt with them. But, it was days like this one that made her… not wish… not hope… not want… just, for something different to happen. She was a first year in high school, after all. She was the same age her brother was when he started fighting Hollows. She should at least have a boy interested in her.

But no. Unlike the other girls in her grade, no guy had set his sights on her. She collapsed onto her couch and sighed. "What sucks?" She shot up, looking around the room. Of course someone was over. And that someone was Chad.

"None of your business." It was hard to tell what he was thinking. He just kind of stood there, facing her. It was hard to tell if he was even looking at her. She sighed, "Is there something you wanted?" Her voice was strained; already she was getting angry. Stupid temper. It flared at the strangest times.

"No, thank you." He started walking towards her.

Instinctively, she scooted as far away from him as possible on the couch. The armrest stopped her from going further. "Then get going," she grumbled, feeling uncomfortable for reasons that she couldn't understand. He was so tall. And tan.

"All right, Karin-chan," he took one step towards her, then held something out. A box of chocolates, "Whatever is wrong, I thought that these would help." It was the most that he had ever said to her.

Cautiously, she took one, "Thank you, Chad-san." There was silence before she said, "It's customary for the girl to give the chocolates."

Chad shrugged, "In Mexico, anyone can give chocolates to anyone they like. If they could afford them."

"Oh." She bit into one of the pieces of heaven, "Thank you, I guess. These are good." She wasn't used to these girly things.

"Your welcome, Karin-chan." They sat in companionable silence, only broken when Ichigo got home for his break from his second year at the University.
