"Maxwell, move this monstrosity, or so help me I will move it for you, to a place that will be VERY uncomfortable."

"MAXWELL!"

"Maxwell, why does your ficus tree have a bird in it?"

"Maxwell…"

Duo Maxwell, king of practical jokes, had just scored big on his three week investment. His ficus tree had slowly been creeping outwards from the desk into the main path. Oh so slowly, only a few centimeters a day, but sure enough, it made it. At first, people just walked past, but soon it was amusement enough to watch them run into it, or duck the branches with their folders and coffee.

And the coup-de-grâce: he sprayed the leaves with water, in the 'ever-futile hope of saving the plant'.

So far though, the only one to notice the plastic bird he'd wired into the leaves was Heero. But then again, he had expected Heero to notice- the man was a soldier after all.

Today he had finished 'decorating' his poor tree with the nest and eggs of the fake bird. The eggs were hollow, like plastic Easter eggs, only much smaller.

"Maxwell, did your fake bird mate sometime in the last week?"

Duo looked into the branches, and looked up at Heero, an awed expression on his face.

"Holy shit, there's more? Look at that, there's three eggs! Industrious little bugger. Hey, what's this?"

He opened the egg and pulled out a tiny roll of paper. Unrolling it, he stared at it, smiled, and looked up at Heero.

"Hey, would you take a look at this?"

Heero took the proffered slip, read it, and turned an interesting shade of pink before nodding and walking away. Duo gave a loud cry of joy, turning heads and gaining cries of annoyance. He smiled sheepishly before looking at his bird and whispering.

"Between you and me… He said yes. Hot damn!"

The little slip of paper, that sat on Heero's desk now, said only four words.

"Like you. Like me?"
