Ok, my 2nd attempt at Naruto fanfiction... It's not exactly NejiTen pairing... but, if you squint there's like one sentence that iludes to it... try and find it!

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto- but I bet you knew that.

Enjoy!

Tattoos

Tenten's got a handful of tattoos- after all, pain is fleeting, but the messages she got written on her body will stay forever. Oh, they're all in places that are easy to hide- on the back of her neck, right below her hairline; her right hip; underneath her right ear; down her spinal cord; the inside of her left knee- because Neji would have had a fit if he knew about half of them.

The first one, the one behind her right ear, was given to her before she could remember; it was the word 'luck' written in traditional Chinese. She had no idea where it came from, but used to imagine that her parents gave it to her.

She got the second one when she was twelve- having no parents and only a guardian who'd check in on her occasionally had its perks- because it was the day she got her new team. She had trouble figuring out where and what to put on her until she saw a simple answer: the leaf symbol on the top of her forehead-protector. She decided that, in order to make it inconspicuous, she had to put on the inside of her left knee. (She couldn't walk for the next two days, but she figured it was worth it.)

The tattoo on her right hip was gotten two days after her match with Temari. She'd felt disappointed in herself- but somehow, she felt invigorated. She had a goal to work to- she had a rival, someone to measure herself up to and she rejoiced. A miniature spread fan with three flowers on it made its way to her hip.

On the day Neji fought Naruto (and lost) she'd been absolutely amazed at his confession to Naruto, (even more amazed that his uncle hadn't came down and punished him) which even she hadn't been told. Tenten had known that Neji's family was a touchy subject- and his uncle down right scared her- but she didn't know that people would go as far as to enslave their own family. She had intended to go see him after his match, but she found that the nurses wouldn't her see her team mate because he was speaking with Hyuuga-sama, of all people. So, instead, she'd gone out and gotten another tattoo; this time, it was the word 'freedom' written in traditional Chinese down her spinal cord.

She got the word 'life' in traditional Chinese on the base of her neck the day the Uchiha boy came back. She'd never had a thing for him, but watching the life come back to Sakura-san and Naruto-san's eyes was something she wanted to be part of.

When Neji sees this new tattoo he will freak and ask her why she would ever want to be marked for life. She will be calm when she answers 'because these marks mean something to me'.

Well... I realize the endings a bit weak, but I was running low on brain power.

I hope you enjoyed it, and it'd mean a lot to me if you reviewed!

Lots a luv,
