A wound from yesterday's hollow stung like mad, and having ran off without being defeated, it was bound to show up anytime. Not to mention it was particularly hot in his classroom, his lunch money must have fallen out of his pockets in a bawl he had with some punks, and the two girls gossiping behind him were starting to give him a migraine. To sum it all up, Ichigo was peeved.

It was only about to get worse.

After scribbling some more on the board, the teacher addressed the class, tapping the white chalk against the board. "Just to be clear, this is what I expect on every lab." Takuya was a young and fairly new teacher, not even in his thirties. "I'll give an example." Reading aloud as he wrote, he announced, "The hypothesis will be…" he trailed off, surveying the class. He smirked, pace of his writing furiously speeding up. "If Kurosaki asks out every girl in the class, at least one of them will accept."

Ichigo jerked to attention, gawking at his teacher. His eyebrows arched in defiance. "I must have heard you wrong." Ichigo spoke up, slight menace in his tone.

Takuya arched his own eyebrows, grinning. "Ah. I was worried something like that might happen. That's why I took the liberty of writing it down."

"Why me?" Ichigo grated.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm picking on you because of that orange hair of yours."

Ichigo held back a curse. "You've got to be kidding me."

"Yup, I am." Takuya replied with enthusiasm. "About your hair, I mean. I'm not changing the example." He added with equal enthusiasm. He spread out his arms, gesturing to the classroom. "And now to begin the experiment. Pick someone to ask out."

"There's no way." Ichigo answered darkly.

"All right then, I'll pick."

"That's not what I meant!" Ichigo interrupted.

Takuya paid no heed. "Kurosaki, ask Inoue out."

Orihime, who had been absent mindedly fiddling with her pencil while day dreaming, quickly looked up.

Ichigo's brown eyes widened, sputtering over his words. "I-Inoue?" was all he could force out of his mouth.

Keigo opened his mouth with glee.

"Keigo, say one word and I swear I won't let you live." Ichigo threatened.

Keigo instantly snapped his mouth shut, gulping.

"Let's hear it! You're not expected to act on this outside the classroom. No big deal." Takuya urged. "Go on, Kurosaki, ask her out."

"What will you do if I don't."

"I'll fail you." Takuya responded blankly.

"What?! You can't do that!" Ichigo yelled.

"You're right, unfortunately. But you aren't getting out of this, so I suggest you get it over with." Takuya said airily.

Ichigo looked at Orihime, who looked back curiously. What should I answer? she wondered.

Ichigo gave a reluctant sigh, dropping her gaze. He was unpleasantly surprised how nerve racking he found this. "Will you go out with me, Orihime?"

Takuya grinned boyishly. "Well, what'll it be, Inoue?"

Orihime gave a small smile, bobbing her head. "I'd love to, Kurosaki-kun."

The class broke out in a loud babble, some grinning and whooping, others calling out in disbelief or disappointment.

"Whaddya know. A yes on your first try, Kurosaki." Takuya said with a wink in Ichigo's direction.

"SHUT THE HELL UP, ALL OF YOU."
