InuYasha blocked the wind razors with his sword and swung at Kagura. Before the Wind Scar hit she jumped onto her sky bound feather. Instead of taking off, she swung her fan at them one more time, InuYasha had sheathed his sword and couldn't block the attack.
There was a scream and InuYasha froze. Kagura flew off on her feather and left the scene as fast as she could. InuYasha looked over to the sorce of the scream. Kagome had been hit by the attack. Kagra's mission had been completed.
"KAGOME!" InuYasha yelled, coming out of his trance. He ran over to Kagome without hesitation and lifted her head off the ground. He set her head in his lap and looked down at Kagome.
"I-InuYasha..." Kagome said with a faint smile on her face.
"Shh. Don't talk. You're hurt." Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Kirara all arrived a second later. They looked at Kagome, she had a deep gash going across her chest, and several on her legs. Her lifes blood was gushing from the wounds, there was nothing they could do and they all knew it.
"I-it doesn't ma-matter." Kagome said in hardly a whisper. "I-I'm going to d-die. There's not-nothing that can be d-done."
"We'll think of something." InuYasha said. Kagome's nearing death was causing him great distress. He didn't know what he'd do if Kagome died. Sango had tears running down her cheeks as she looked at her friend. Kagome was obviously in great pain, there was nothing she could do about it. She was helpless to sit there and watch.
Miroku had a passive face, but a single tear that rolled down his cheek told everyone other wise. He was upset at the nearing loss of one of his closest friends. Life wouldn't be the same without Kagome. It would be dull and nothing would look the same as it had with her.
Shippo was sobbing into Kirara's fur. He was really chocked up about it, it was obvious. He'd lost his parents, and now he was losing one of the people who'd saved him from killing himself. It was unbarable.
"N-no. I-InuYasha, I w-want you to k-know, that I-I l-love you." Kagome said. As she said her last words the life faded from her eyes and she died. The tears that InuYasha had been trying to hold back came at last, the tears dripped down onto her face.
"I love you too, Kagome." InuYasha whispered. Sango burried her head into Miroku's shoulder and he wrapped his arms around her. He gently rubbed her back, he was crying with tears of his own, but they weren't as great as Sango's. Kirara curled up with Shippo, who was still sobbing into her fur. InuYasha burried his head into Kagome's shoulder and cried. She didn't smell the same. Instead of smelling like the strawberries she once had, she smelled like death. It was all over her. Her blood had stopped flowing and she was truley gone.
She wasn't coming back, and she had died in his arms. He had vowed to protect Kagome, but he'd failed. Her death weighed heavily on his soul, and shoulders. He couldn't believe that he let the second person that he had love died. It was unbelieveable. Unforgivable. Kikyo had gone back to hell, and now Kagome was gone. There seemed to be nothing to live for anymore.
"I'm sorry Kagome. I lied to you. I couldn't protect you." InuYasha said. He took a few deep breaths then got up. He took one last look at Kagome, then left. There was no way he could stay with them anymore. Even if Naraku was still out, he didn't care.
Kagome was gone.
