It was the night before her birthday and Raven sat starring in the mirror at her paper that usual complexion. She had just been violently I'll and wasn't sure why that would be. Knock Knock! She jumped at the sound and quickly rinsed her mouth and went to the door. Upon opening it she found the somewhat guilty face of her boyfriend.
"Beast Boy what are you doing here this late?" She asked curiously.
"Well we need to talk about something," he said. She gave him a questioning look but let him in anyway.
"What is it?" She asked once they were seated on her bed.
"I have to leave for awhile," He said not meeting her eyes. "Steve needs me back with the Doom Patrol."
"But what about us, we're your team...and me?" She asked trying to keep her emotions in check until he was done speaking.
"It's not forever, I promise," he said finally looking her in the eyes. He grabbed both her hands and squeezed them reassuringly. "I've also talked to Robin, it's only gonna be six months."
"Six months?" She exclaimed feeling back. "But why so long?" Suddenly she felt dizzy and got sick again. She got up and hurried to the bathroom, where she got sick once more.
"Raven what's wrong?" Beast Boy asked worriedly as he held her hair back from her face and rubbed her back softly.
"Nothing, just feeling a bit sick, I think I have a bug that's all," she said wiping her mouth and standing back up to rinse it.
"Are you sure, I could stay longer if you want me too."
"What do you mean longer?"
"Oh yeah, I have to go tonight," he said sheepishly.
"No I'm fine, you go," she said somewhat bitterly.
"Are you sure?" He asked one more time.
"Yeah I am, just go," she said and he was gone.
The next couple of weeks were just awful and it wasn't because Beast Boy was gone but because Raven was sick every morning now, because she was two months pregnant with his child. He would most likely be gone her whole pregnancy. She hasn't told anyone yet, because she doesn't want anyone to know.
She'll never be able to abort it, so she had only one option if she was going to keep a secret this big from everyone. She went to her desk and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and jotted down a note. She the. Gathered all her belongings and left the tower, for what she was sure was a very long time.
She decided to move as far from Jump City as possible, and. Gotham was the best option for her. It was two days by car. She found an apartment for low rent and moved in.
Starfire walked up to Raven's door and knocked, she was hoping to go shopping with her best friend. "Friend Raven are you awake?" She received no answer, so she cautiously opened the door, only to find it bare. She found it odd, especially because the curtains were open. She walked over to the bed, and noticed a piece of paper lying there.
It was a note that read: Dear Titans,
I have decided to leave the team, not because Beast Boy left but my own reasons. I'm truly sorry I didn't have the courage to say goodbye to your faces, but I couldn't stay any longer. I'll miss you all, tell Beast Boy good bye for me.
Raven.
Starfire ran to the living room, tears streaming down her face. "Friends, Raven has run away." She cried causing Robin to jump up and take the note from her hands. He felt angry she said this in a note, but she had her reasons and they'd have to deal with it.
"This is gonna break BB," Cyborg said walking up and reading the note as well. "Why do you think she left now, of all times?"
"Who knows, but if she needs her space we'll give it to her." Robin replied. "And we'll just have to hope that she contacts us."
(Eight months later)
Raven, now known as Rachel Roth, was at the hospital giving birth to her first child alone and it was rough since she had no one. The only others in the room were her doctor Mark Johnson and his nurse Layla.
"All right, Rachel I need you to push one last time." Dr. Johnson said. "Really big."
"A-all right," she gasped out. She let out a loud scream as she pushed and the next sound was the wail of her newborn child.
"It's a boy." The doctor announced, placing the baby onto her chest.
As he cut the cord, Rachel looked down at the little person in her arms, he was screaming. He had her skin color, but blonde hair and sapphire eyes. She figured blonde was Beast Boys natural hair color.
"He's perfect," she whispered.
"We need to take him and get him cleaned then warmed up." Layla said taking the baby from his mother. "Do we have a name yet?"
"Spencer Garfield Roth." Rachel said smiling tiredly.
"Go to sleep, we'll bring him back in a little while." Dr. Johnson said, she nodded and closed her eyes.
"It's so good to have you back, Beast Boy! You've grown taller." Starfire exclaimed crushing him in a hug, even though she was eight months pregnant. When she finally let go he was greeted by the other two, and he glanced around the room.
"Where's Rae?" He asked and the others all became sad. "What's wrong?" He asked panicked. "Where is she?"
"We don't know Beast Boy." Robin said as Starfire turned and embraced him. "She's been MIA for eight months now."
"Why didn't anyone send word to me?" Beast Boy asked rage building up inside. "She's the reason I came back, and you're telling me you don't know what happened to her?" He yelled. "Did you even try looking for her?"
"How can you even accuse us of that?" Starfire asked hurt, her eyes teary. "Of course we did, but she doesn't want to be found, so we can't find her."
"Well obviously you didn't try hard enough!" Beast Boy yelled as he stormed out of the tower.
"Why does it feel like we just disbanded?" Cyborg asked saddened that both his friends were now gone.
"Because I think we did." Robin said holding Starfire close.
(Five Years Later)
Rachel and Spencer live in a three bedroom house near his school.
"Spencer are you ready yet, we have to leave soon." Rachel called as she finished breakfast.
"Yes mommy." The five year old ran out to the kitchen fully dressed and put his backpack near his chair. He climbed up into the chair and sat down. "I'm hungry what's for breakfast?"
"Your favorites, dinosaur shapes pancakes." Rachel said smiling as she sipped at her tea. When Spencer turned a year old she used her magic to alter his appearance, his hair was a darker shade of blonde and his ears looked normal.
"Yay!" He cheered as he dug in.
"So how's first grade?" She asked.
"It's fine, except I get teased for being younger than everyone, except Bella," he said around his food. "She's my friend and keeps everyone from teasing me too bad, since she's my age."
"That's nice of her," Rachel said standing up and putting his empty plate along with her mug in the sink. "Time to go." They went out and got in the car. "Buckle up."
When they arrived at the school Rachel got out and gave him a quick kiss goodbye. As she was turning back to her car she ran into another woman.
"I'm so sorry." The woman said, the voice vaguely familiar. Rachel looked up and was surprised by the familiar face looking back at her. "Oh my X'hal, Raven?"
"Starfire?" Rachel gasped eyes wide.
"I finally found you," Starfire said softly. "Wait until Richard hears this."
