In His Arms
Jibbs: Jen's had a hard day and seeks comfort in Gibbs. Drabble.
Please review.
Jethro Gibbs' had taken the stairs up to the Director's office, his enthusiasm reflected clearly in his body language. He had had a good day; he and his team had finally broken a case and had caught a serial killer they had been targeting for weeks now. Now, Jethro wanted to share the good knew with Jenny in person.
Cynthia wasn't sat at her desk, which would have made very little difference anyway, so he headed straight through the double door and into Jen's office.
It appeared that she hadn't noticed him enter or that she was ignoring him; either was possible. Jethro looked at her with faint amusement as he watched the redheaded woman before him. She moved her neck in slow circles, from side to side to ease the tension in her muscles.
"Jethro!" She announced in surprised when she sensed another presence in the room with her. This confirmed Gibbs' earlier suspicion that she hadn't noticed he was there. She wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not, it could mean she was that relaxed around him, that was if he allowed himself that much hope.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." A grin spread its way across his lips making Jen scowl at him.
"I see you barged in…again." She knew that her authoritative tone of voice didn't work with him but she opted for it anyway, trying not to show how much she enjoyed Gibbs' visits to her office. Jethro abandoned his position leaning on the doorjamb and crossed the room to where she was standing.
"Tough day?" Gibbs asked, his voice softer now.
Jenny nodded, wincing as she jarred the muscles in her neck again.
"We solved the Stevens case." He told her in an attempt to cheer her up; it worked as a temporary solution.
Jenny smiled. "Good work, Jethro."
"Thank you, Director." Gibbs smiled too but Jen looked pained now.
"Jen, are you okay?" Gibbs asked, concern for her flooding his voice and his clear blue eyes.
She managed a weak smile. "Do you what I could use right now?"
"I dread to think." He smirked. "Go ahead."
"I really need a hug." She said, her cheeks deepening a little in colour as the words slipped out of her mouth.
Gibbs smiled, moving so that he was standing directly in front of her. He wrapped his arms securely around her petite body, pulling her close to him. Jen let out a low sigh as she let Gibbs envelope her in the embrace. She rested her head against the soft fabric of his jacket, inhaling his unique Gibbs scent. Jenny closed her eyes and imagined the two of them anywhere but here in her office but she knew it was wrong to think about him like this. Slowly, with regret building up inside of her, Jen freed herself from Gibbs' arms.
"Thanks Jethro." She smiled softly.
Gibbs smiled, pressing a gentle kiss to the side of her face and stepping back.
"Anytime, Jen." Gibbs told her, giving her one last smile before leaving.
Jenny sat down heavily on her chair and in her mind she rewound the last few minutes. She could smell Gibbs' scent as she wrapped her arms around herself. Somehow things always felt better when she was in his arms.
