For Eowyn

As morning winds did blow, your hair

In golden webs about me flew.

If any mortal thing is fair,

It must be only you.

I could have had a lady bright

With Gondor's olden majesty.

But I forsook their fading light

All for the love of thee.

When Mordor's shadows filled the sky

And blackened out the sun,

We stood together, thee and I,

And knew that light would come.

And though we cannot see all ends,

We hold unto the light.

This darkness, it shall not endure

While I am at thy side.
