Dumbledore stood, facing his old friend. The signs of wickedness that had been earlier masked with the charming good looks of his youth were now clear in his older age.

"Ach! You cannot defeat me, Albus! I haff ze Elder Vand! It is unbeatable! Ze Hallow, Albus! I am ze Master of ze Elder Vand!"

"It is true," Dumbledore said quite calmly, "that no wand in existence can defeat the Elder Wand in a duel."

"Exactly!" Grindelwald shouted. "So how can you expect your pansy vand to defeat mine?!"

"You are mistaken, my old friend," Dumbledore said, still maintaining his calm demeanor. "I come with no wand."

A look of paralyzing shock appeared on Gellert Grindelwald's face as Dumbledore reached into his robes and busted out two MP-40 sub-machine guns from within.

"Looks like the very Muggles you sought to enslave have created the only true Conqueror of the Elder Wand, eh?" Dumbledore said with a laugh, and he squeezed both triggers, the sound of his maniacal cackling drowned out by the thunder of the rapid fire of his MP-40s.

Sixty-two bullets were later magically removed from the remarkably resilient Grindelwald, who was quickly sent to prison. News of Dumbledore's method to victory was hushed up to prevent others from discovering how easily guns could defeat wands. Dumbledore was delighted to learn that even though he didn't defeat Grindelwald with a wand, the MP-40s had sufficed to vanquish the old master of the Elder Wand, giving Dumbledore its power.
