So:

This is a really short ficlet about Kenji Matsuda and Kazuhito Ohba from Versus.

It is set on -cough- The Titanic -cough- in what might be World War Two.

The narrator in Kenji Matsuda. The characters are in their early 20's. There are no names present in this story.

Although it's about Kenji and Kazuhito, there are no real characterisations that tie them into the plot, so the characters could be anyone, really. Up to you.

Enjoy.

Sinking.

He is the most beautiful person I have ever seen. He is constantly surrounded by gifts he does not desire, girls he has no interest in. He only has eyes for me. Only desires me.

He told me once, as we made love in the bowels of the ship that is sailing us to our freedom; that I was the sun in his darkness, the rain in his desert, the life that blossomed in the deepest recesses of his heart – That I was his reason to live.

We lie together on his bed, surrounded by extravagant luxury; his arms wrapped around me, my face pressing against his chest: feeling his heart beat. I am taller so I have curled myself into a ball. He is so much more important that I am, and for that I am looked down upon, but here in his arms I feel safe; feel protected. Feel loved.

Amidst the crashes, the screams and the cries, I see myself reflected in his glasses as he embraces me in the chaos. We lie; entwined on his bed, pictures and ornaments falling and smashing around us as this magnificent and mighty ship disappears into the ocean. I am not important enough for a life raft, but it does not matter. He says it is better to die early in light, then to live forever, alone, in darkness.

The cold, black water has risen; lapping at our chins, but it does not matter - soon we will be gone from this world; soon we will forget. We will forget living. We will forget dying. We will forget everything we have ever known.

ut we will not forget each other...
