Good-bye

Two little red-heads

Into the world together

"Oh, so cute!"

"They look so naughty!"

It would have been

Oh-so-wow if we were to go together

We grew up and we grew up,

But not really really

Pranking

And laughing

And joking

And laughing

And getting shouted at

Forever Fred and George

And Gred and Forge

Mum couldn't tell us apart!

And then, one day, poor Georgie was all holy-holey

And all saint-like

They could finally tell us apart

Then the war,

With the red, orange, yellow, purple,

And the Green

All flying about

People crying, screaming, running, hiding

Dying...

It would have been

Oh-so-wow if we were to go together

But, no! He was dead

Laughter etched in death

Now there's only a part of the whole,

Withering, crumbling, rusting, fading

Now it's never Fred and George

Or Gred and Forge

No. Gred moved on

Leaving behind

Only a lifetime's worth of memories and incompletedness

And half-finished sentences

Yes. There's only poor Georgie now

And no one to tell how holy-holey-holey he feels.

And at the end of it all,

Poor Georgie didn't even get to say good-bye.
