Neji had been sleeping. He always went to bed early. Going to bed early ensured minimal contact with his family. It also meant he could begin training earlier in the day. Wait… he was… why was he awake? The dull thunk that sounded a few seconds later seemed like a good clue. It was times like this that he really wished they were allowed to use the Byakugan inside the Hyuuga mansion. But, no. That was rude.

He got up, picking up a kunai on his way to the noise's source. It seemed to be coming from his wall, the outside one. Well, he had options. He could open his window, presenting himself as a target. He could activate his byakugan and hope no one else noticed the spike in his chakra. Probably too much to hope for. Or, he could walk all the way around the house in order to get outside without giving himself away. He was to his door when there was a thud and a splintering sound. There was half a sai sticking out from his wall. Oh. Should've realized that sooner.

He threw on some clothes and climbed out his window. He pulled out the sai and two shuriken from the pockmarked wall, and looked out over the grounds. "Tenten? Where are you?"

There was a rustling, and Tenten's head popped up over the outer wall. "Neji, we have a problem. Come out here."

"What? … Hold on, I'll be out in a minute." He soon found himself standing in an alley with Tenten, who… looked like she'd seen better days. Her hair had fallen down on one side, there was a long scratch on her cheek, and oddly, she was wearing a blanket.

"Tenten what's wrong with you?"

"You have to go, Neji! You have to escape before they get you too!" she was clinging to him now.

"Calm down, Tenten. What's going on? What do you mean 'before they get me?' What happened?"

Tenten stepped away from him and dropped the blanket.

Oh god, the spandex. This was Neji's last thought before passing out.

----

Neji's first thought upon regaining consiousness was, 'must stop Hanabi from taking over Fire Country.' His first rational thought, after remembering what had happened, was more of a question. Tenten seemed to be a logical person to ask. She was right there, afterall…hovering over him worriedly? And wearing...

"Tenten?"

"Yes, Neji?"

"Is that… Are you wearing… Am I having a poison induced hallucination?"

"…If your talking about the spandex, then no Neji, you're not hallucinating." Tenten looked down at herself. "Although I'm not exactly sure that's good."

"Ah." Neji processed this, still laying on the ground. Of course, this brought his previous question back into light. In fact, it seemed much less weird now. In fact, if the answer was what he thought, he had a perfect excuse to beat up Lee and Gai, and request transfer to a new team. Although he feared for Tenten's emotional scarring. "I had been hoping that I dreamed that. In light of …this, I feel a question is appropriate."

"Ah. Yes, what is it, Neji?"

"How is it that they got that on you? They didn't…" No. He was not finishing that sentence. For many reasons.

Tenten seemed to get it anyway. If the blush was any indication.

"No. Um, not directly anyway. They locked me in a room with Mitirashi Anko." She paused, and grimaced in remembrance. "She apologized, but she said the offer was too good to turn down."

"…Dango?"

"Probably."

"NEJI! TENTEN! MY EVER YOUTHFUL PUPILS!"

Looks were exchanged. Neji and Tenten ran.

AN: A drabble that forced itself out of my head despite all my best efforts to dismiss it. Un beta-d and probably pathetic, but there you go.
