Dess looked at the dingy grey blanket at the foot of her bed and scowled. How dare they leave her all alone? Well, not alone, but still. It's not like Rex was much company anymore. Not while he was going seven different kinds of crazy, and taking care of the old man and Maddy.
A brief thought crossed her mind that maybe, just maybe, she was being bitter, but she brushed that away like an annoying fly. Who cared if she was bitter? She had more of a right than anyone else to be bitter.
She sighed and grabbed a notebook off of a pile on her floor. She might as well scribble down some random calculations while waiting for Flyboy and Bitch Goddess. Except…she couldn't think of any.
She hated this. Throwing the notebook across the room, she balled her hands into fists and began to beat the bed. She hoped that the Bitch Goddess could taste her fury.
After a moment, she calmed down.
Was it normal to be this angry? After almost five years, she was going to be alone again. What was the point of finding her if they were all just going to leave? Of course, it's not like they had planned this. It wasn't their fault, not really.
Whatever.
Dess got off of her bed and went over to the corner of her room where she kept her stockpile of weapons. Better safe than sorry, she thought. Grabbing a backpack, she began throwing metal odds and ends into it, naming each one as she did.
A few minutes later, she heard the dogs across the street barking as Flyboy pulled up. Of course he was going to be noisy. He didn't care anymore. But, because of his uncaring attitude, she decided to take her time getting outside. They had plenty of time to get where they needed to be.
Making sure that her parents were asleep, she carefully slid her window open and hopped out, heading towards Flyboy's car for the last time.
