Holiday Arrangements

Harry looked at the face in his fireplace with mild surprise. This was not someone he would have expected to contact him.

"Malfoy. To what do I owe the… honour?"

Malfoy looked somewhat pissed, Harry couldn't help but notice, even if he was trying to look unconcerned and dignified as always. "My son refuses to come home for the holidays," he said without any preambles.

Harry blinked. "And how does that concern me?" he asked. Surely he had nothing to do with Scorpius Malfoy?

"It does not directly." Nevertheless, Malfoy glared at Harry as though the whole issue had been his fault. "I have every reason to believe the reason for Scorpius' decision is your younger son."

Harry blinked. "What, Albus?" Now, that didn't sound right. Sure, the boys were both in Slytherin, but… "What does my son have to do with yours?"

"Entirely too much, I fear." Oh, yes, definitely Harry's fault, announced the silver eyes. "It has come to my knowledge that our sons are dating."

"Really?" Harry's eyes flew wide. This, he had definitely not expected. James had told that Albus seemed to tolerate his housemate remarkably well, but this…

"Really." Malfoy grimaced. "This goes against all the traditions. My ancestors' portraits were devastated as they heard."

"I can imagine," Harry mused. Doubtlessly no son of Malfoy was allowed to fall for another male, definitely not the son of a Potter. He wondered how strict Malfoy would be about this part of rearing his son – after all, it would apparently affect Harry's own son, too.

"However." Ah, this sounded interesting. "My wife is adamant about getting Scorpius home. Therefore, as he wants to stay behind at school to be with your son… she wants to invite young Severus, too."

Harry couldn't help but smirk. Of course Malfoy would call Albus by his second name. "And you are asking whether it is all right with me?" he guessed then.

"Yes, that is it." Malfoy sighed. "I don't like this, and you probably don't, either, but… As long as he doesn't bring shame to the family name, I am not going to dictate my son's life." The glare had now turned into a serious gaze. Harry nodded slowly. He supposed Malfoy indeed would think like that, given his own past experiences.

"It probably does not surprise you that while I am not particularly happy with Albus' choice, either, I believe in letting my children follow their own hearts." Harry looked at his old rival. "Fine. As long as Albus is not harmed, you may invite him as well." As an afterthought, he added, "You do realize Ginny will want to see them both, too, once she hears of this?"

"Doubtlessly so." Malfoy sighed. "And, in that case, I suppose I'll have to agree to Scorpius visiting you as well."

"Cheer up, Malfoy," Harry said solemnly. "They are still young. They have plenty of time to come to their senses."

An elegant eyebrow was arched. "I do hope so."

Harry nodded, then looked at Malfoy questioningly. "So… truce?"

"Truce," replied Malfoy with an almost gloomy voice. After a moment of silence, though, he said, "Snape would be proud."

Harry smiled wistfully. "Doubtlessly. And then he'd give Albus a detention for corrupting your son."

Malfoy smirked. "What else?"
