Emmett doesn't care about the looks they get as they walk down the streets of Boston, stares from confused pedestrians that see them holding hands.

"They're staring at us," Elle comments as they walk along the pathway at Harvard, "Why are they staring at us?"

He knows the real reason- that they wonder how a girl like Elle would ever choose a guy like Emmett- but he gets past that and chooses to ignore it, and instead answers, "Because they wish they had a girl like you." He wraps his arm around her shoulders protectively and they keep on walking, because Emmett doesn't care about the people staring. Elle is his strength, his inspiration, his everything. He's the luckiest man on Earth, and that's all that matters.

Elle Woods certainly isn't perfect, and Emmett doesn't expect her to be. He sees her, flaws and all, for who she is, and for that, she is eternally grateful. After a long night of studying for final exams, she sits down next to him on his tattered couch and sighs.

"I'm sorry I freaked out earlier. I'm just worried about these tests."

"You shouldn't be," he says, smiling at her, "Because you're going to be fine."

She's crazy and sometimes spastic and overly energetic and utterly pink, but he loves all of these things about her without expecting anything in return. Unconditional love, Elle knows, is something that doesn't come easily, and she isn't going to take it for granted.

She doesn't care that Emmett isn't from a wealthy, privileged family, and when the girls of Delta Nu ask her about her new boyfriend, she smiles over the phone line.

"He's perfect," she says, glancing at him as he sleeps on the couch, "absolutely perfect just the way he is."

On a warm night in the spring, the sun just beginning to set, the people of Boston do a double-take watching a blonde, beautiful girl from California walking wrapped in the arms of an average man in a ratty courderoy jacket. There's more to them than anyone sees, and Elle wants the world to know that she loves Emmett as unconditionally as he loves her. As they pass the gaping groups of people, Elle stops, wraps her arms around Emmett's neck, and pulls him into a kiss. When they pull apart, she takes his hand and keeps walking, smiling all the way.

"What was that for?" He says, smirking down at her.

"Oh, no reason." She says, grinning and glancing back at the puzzled faces, "Just showing them what they're missing."
