IMPORTANT A/N: This is based on a true story. I, Aspen, work in Cole's Books at the mall in the town where I live. The guy, questions, and answers in this fic are all real. He seriously asked me these things, and I replied, trying not to laugh. That was a good day...

Thanks to Eleen for suggesting that I write this experience as a fic.

Disclaimer: I do not own Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Atonement, or the guy with the freaky eye shade.

Stranger Than Fiction

It was a pretty dull night at Cole's Books. I was standing behind the counter, mindlessly flipping through a copy of Atonement when this guy came up to the counter. Taking this as my cue that break time was over, I set down my book and smiled.

Before me stood a guy not much older than me. Second year college at most. His blond hair was somewhat shaggy and his eyes were dull and bored looking.

Probably on drugsā€¦ I thought to myself.

"Hi, is there anything I can help you with?" I asked, noticing that he had no books in his hand for me to ring in.

"Yeah, do you have any copies of Twilight?" He asked, hopeful.

His question brightened my day considerably. Stepping out onto the floor, I speedily took him over to the teen section and handed him a copy.

The guy took a brief look at the back before lowering the book.

"Who's Edward?" He questioned, determined.

Thinking this question sort of odd, I hesitated before jumping into an explanation of Edward's vampire life and appearance.

However, this didn't seem to satisfy him.

"How does he act?"

Another odd question; but being a worker in one of the public's customer service stores, I simply answered him the best way I knew how.

"Tortured and gentlemanly."

The word 'gentlemanly' caught his attention.

As an afterthought, I decided to let out my curiousness.

"Why do you ask?"

Not skipping a beat, he replied "My girlfriend told me to be more like Edward."

By now, I was trying not to let my internal laughter out. He must've noticed my uncomfortable pose, because he dropped the book to continue examining the shelf.

Before I knew it, he had a box set of Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse, and was headed for the counter.

I hurried after him to ring in his order.

After giving him his change, he turned away muttering "Be like Edward" under his breath.

As soon as he step foot out into the rest of the mall, I let my laughter out, thinking all of the while, Good luck.
