She Can't Know

She's looking at me now

With eyes that burn like fire.

As if lashing out at me

Is now her only desire.

Silvertongue's daughter—so young,

And yet so wise for her years.

I wish she'd stop looking at me

And instead simply burst into tears.

She can't know these ten years of pain,

All that my poor heart's been through.

She can't claim to know how it's been—

So I did what I had to do.

Capricorn's promise was strong

And I played my part till the last.

So why are those slicing blue eyes

Still, on my person, stuck fast?
