BEAUTIFUL STARLIGHT
Nick and Sara had been dating about six months. He had a difficult time convincing Sara to go out dancing, however. It had been more challenging when she found out it was for country dancing. She had finally given in though. When she looked in those brown eyes, she hated to deny him anything. The reason she had resisted for so long is because she thought she couldn't dance. Nick thought she danced beautifully.
When they played the last dance, Nick swept Sara off of her feet and kissed her. He took her by the hand and whispered into her ear. She and he walked out hand in hand. They got in the truck and drove out of Las Vegas until they were far out in the desert. The only light was that of the stars and moon.
Nick stopped the truck and came around to open the passenger door. Sara was puzzled but trusted Nick. He grabbed a blanket and asked her to join him. He took her by the other hand and led her to the edge of the cliff.
He stopped and laid the blanket down. "Please sit." Sara did as she was asked and Nick sat down behind her. He wrapped his arms around her. She laid her head back on him. "The stars are beautiful."
"I come out here when I need some peace and quiet. It reminds me of home. There is something I need to ask you." Sara turned around so that she could face Nick. He was getting nervous.
"Sara, the twinkling of the stars is no comparison to the beauty I see in your eyes. You are the light of my life. You have an amazing spirit that inspires everyone you meet, most of all me. When I was kidnapped, you were the one who kept me going. I am so glad you found me. If I didn't have you, I might have used that gun. I wouldn't let myself do that to you. What I am trying to say is that I can't imagine my life without you. I want you to be a part of my home forever. Will you please marry me?"
"Yes, Nick, I will." Nick took the ring from his pocket and placed it on her finger. It was engraved with the words, "For my guiding light, Sara."
