Friend Or Lover

Sam knew exactly what Daniel was thinking the moment Jack told them that the stone arch, Thor's Hammer, was the only way out.

Teal'c.

Sha're.

Friend or lover.

No matter what they did, one of the two was doomed. If they left Teal'c behind, he'd have no real future to live in the labyrinth. If they destroyed the hammer to get him out, on the other hand, Sha're's chances of escaping the goa'uld inside of her would be effectively ruined.

Sha're's location was unknown to them and Teal'c was right there. It was pretty clear where things were headed.

Sam could see the conflict behind her friends' eyes and in the gentle frown across his face. She didn't need to hear what he was thinking to know that deep down he was fighting the fiercest battle of his life.

Teal'c or Sha're.

Sha're or Teal'c.

Jack wouldn't allow them to leave Teal'c behind, of that she was certain. He hadn't left the Jaffa's side for a moment and had made it clear that he had no intention of stranding him there.

Sam, to be perfectly honest, agreed with him.

When Daniel aimed Teal'c's staff weapon at the Hammer, however, her heart went out to him. He was making a huge sacrifice that would weigh heavy on him for some time, if not for the rest of his life. This, he would never forget.

A strike went out and the Hammer lit up momentarily, before fading into to darkness.

Sam sighed in relief.

It was done.
