Hello, Good-bye

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.

They sat next to each other, heads apart, knees touching, fingers loosely entwined.

They remained seated there for quite some time, occasionally shifting to get more comfortable, staring out at the blank landscape around them.

They perceived it when the light began to recede and the shadows started to extend, creeping closer to them - the only two life forms in this barren world.

"It's getting late," he said finally, "we should go." He turned to her, caught her eyes, "This is good-bye, you know."

She surprised him then (wouldn't be the first time) - he had expected her to grow melancholy, anticipated the way that her vibrant, verdant eyes would dim, but they lit up instead, her fingers tightened around his and she moved closer to him, leaned her head on his shoulder and started to softly sing, "You say good-bye and I say hello. Hello, goodbye. Hello, goodbye."

Sasuke raised an eyebrow, inwardly cringing because her voice was just terrible and said, "Is that the Target song?"

Sakura smiled and paused in her serenade to say, "Yes, it is. I really like it, don't you?"

He frowned slightly and looked away, "Not particularly, no."

She rolled her eyes but the gesture was tender, affectionate, "Do you like my voice at least?"

'Yes,' he thought, 'when you're not singing.' Wisely, he decided against actually voicing his opinions. His only response was to close the distance between them and so bring her serenade to an end.

When they pulled away, Sakura sighed and buried her face in his chest, speaking to try to stave off her growing sadness, "You know you didn't answer my question."

A/N: If you think this is silly, well that's 'cause it is. I love that Target song (whch is actually an old Beatles one) and when I saw the commercaisl last night, this just popped into my head. If Sasuke and Sakura seem out of character, it's because I didn't think this up with them in mind - I just adapted it to suit them...or at least I tried to.
