A/N: Hey guys! I'm so sorry about the last alert that went out. I was trying to update chapter one and it didn't do what I was expecting it to. But, incase you haven't looked yet. A new and improved version of chapter one is now up. Slowly I will be going back over my story and changing a few things. When I update a new chapter I will change the name of the title to add '-Rewrite'. Again, sorry for the confusion!

And thank you to everyone who has left a review for this story. Trust me when I say I practically live off of them!

Recap: With blood dripping down his muzzle, Sesshomaru set foot onto Genkai's land. He huffed at the pitiful attempts at the barriers set up to keep lower level youkai out. He took a deep breath of the smells around him.

He could smell Kagome's blood in the air and that just enraged his beast even more. His eyes turned an even darker shade of crimson. He was out for blood.

After a few moments, he heard the answering howl. She wasn't far. He would be there in a matter of minutes.

Crystalline Tears: Fights

Yusuke ran as fast as he could toward Genkai's Temple. He was far from the Temple, but already he could feel a massive amount of demonic energy moving through her land.

His eyes became set in a glare. This was not going to be easy. He just hoped he made it in time.

There was complete silence in the field that was just North of Genkai's Temple. The entire location was void of any animal presence. There was not even a breeze. It was as if the earth itself knew the amount of danger that was headed in its direction.

Yoko quickly took the unconscious Kitsune and placed her in the middle of the field. He stroked her fur and purred in a reassuring manner. She would feel his presence leave her side, and he knew she wouldn't like it. Slowly he leaned over her and whispered in her ear, "It's okay. I will not be far."

He used his demon energy to manipulate the plants underneath her. The grass she was laying on turned soft as silk and it seemed to embrace her. He let his energy linger around the area hoping it will bring her comfort when he physically left her side.

He leaned back into a standing position and headed to the edge of the field with Hiei. "Hn. Do you honestly think this will placate him enough?"

Yoko sent Hiei a worried look. "I don't know. But it's the only thing we can do."

'I just hope Yusuke will get here in time. He's going to be the only chance we will have of surviving this.' Kurama was genuinely worried about the outcome of this encounter.

When Genkai had made the call to Koenma, he had informed her that Yusuke was already making his way to the Temple. Apparently the Dog General had made quite a mess in Yusuke's territory, and Hokushin had crossed over to the Human World to find him.

Now the real challenge would be to see how long they could stall the Dog General before help arrived.

If they failed, he had no doubts that Lord Sesshomaru would find the Temple and kill Yukina and Genkai. Though it was a horrible thought, it was a very real possibility.

"Now we prepare for the worst," said Hiei as he drew his sword and uncovered his Jagan eye. "By no means will we allow him to attack the Temple."

Yoko knew how ruthless the Dog General could be. There was not one story of him showing mercy to anyone before. If this interaction were to lead to a fight, they would not be walking away.

Now all they could do was wait.

Sesshomaru was encroaching upon a Temple in the middle of the forest. His nose was working over time to pinpoint the exact location of his Alpha Female. Though he could smell her scent all over the place, he could tell that she was no longer there. The stale scent of her blood in the air made him mark this place in his mind.

He would be returning later.

He followed the smell of his pack mate through the forest. His great speed he used to get to this location drastically decreased as he trotted past trees. If there were enemies in these woods, he would not overlook them. Every single one of them would die.

He finally arrived in an open field. His senses taking in every sight and smell around him. His main target was lying in the middle of the field giving off soft whimpers of pain. These sounds only seemed to enrage him further. Sesshomaru stepped into the clearing with teeth bared in a snarl.

He knew there were two other demons in this field. As he neared the Kitsune, he never took his eyes off of the area where he could smell the two enemies. His eyes, so filled with rage, seemed to glow ominously in the dark.

As he got closer to her, he decreased his size to accommodate his need to be closer to her. He leaned over her as he took in her scent. Oh how he missed her. He gently nudged her as he gave a soft whine, encouraging her to get up. He nudged her head as he licked behind her ear.

Why was she not responding?

He tore his gaze away from the threat to finally take in the state of his pack mate. His eyes took in her form as he took a deep inhale. That breath told him all he needed to know. Her blood was saturated in poison. It was slowly taking her life.

This was something he would not allow to happen. He just found his pack, and he'd be damned if he let death take her from him.

Still keeping his senses on the unknown threat that still have not presented themselves yet, he addressed Kagome. He may be in a rage with his beast one hundred percent in control, but he still knew his priorities lied with his packs safety first, then the desolation of enemies.

Quickly pinpointing the wound with the poison, he called the healing agents in his saliva to come forth. He bathed her whole back with his tongue, making sure her wound was completely lathered. It would still take her a while to heal, but, she would not die.

Already he could see positive effects of his healing saliva manifesting. Her snout was no longer scrunched in pain. It was now relaxed giving her a peaceful look. He lowered himself once again to nudge her into waking; to return his affection. But she only gave a pained whimper. His heart constricted at the sound.

He lowered himself closer to the ground. His chest vibrated as he purred deep in his throat to sooth her. It had been so long since he was able to feel her body heat next to his like this. He remembered simpler times of them running through the forest together. Their canine bodies pushing against each other as they enjoyed being a pack.

The people that did this to her were going to regret they ever laid eyes on her.

Now that he knew her safety was ensured, he turned his attention to the two unwelcome spectators. He reverted back to his giant form and stood to his full height above his pack in a protective crouch. He let out a loud bark like snarl to show his hatred. Drool like acid dripped from his fangs as his lips curled back over his gums.

He inhaled deeply, imprinting their scents into his mind. Even if they were fortunate to get away from him today, he would spend every waking second of his existence tracking them down for his vengeance. No one would escape his wrath.

His muscles tensed as he pushed off his hind legs and sprang forward, intent on closing the distance between him and his prey.

Hiei glanced at Yoko from the corner of his eye. Both were watching the interaction between the two in the clearing. It did not escape their notice that Lord Sesshomaru never took his attention off of them the entire time. Though his eyes eventually strayed, Yoko and Hiei were not foolish enough to believe that he forgot about them.

When Sesshomaru launched himself toward them, Yoko jumped to the right while Hiei jumped to the left. Yoko had a sense of De-ja-vu when he noticed Sesshomaru start to grow in size. He was much larger than Kagome had been.

Sesshomaru opened his jaw and let his acidic saliva drop to the ground. Upon impact, the vegetation started to dissolve away leaving behind a poisonous gas. Then, everything that made contact with the gas was eaten away, producing even more toxic fumes. Already it had cleared out several trees, which they were using to stand on.

Yoko leapt from his perch when he saw Sesshomaru lunge for him. When he was about to land on another tree limb, Sesshomaru's tail whipped up catching Yoko in the side. He went hurtling to the ground so hard, he created a crater from the impact. Before Sesshomaru was able to pounce on him once again, Hiei intercepted and started to slash away, hoping to drive him back.

From his peripheral vision, Hiei, could see Yoko regain his bearings and leap out of the poison infested battle field. Following Yoko's trail was the scent of burning flesh. Hiei clenched his teeth. This was not good.

While Hiei was distracted with Yoko's state, Sesshomaru raked his claws down the front of his torso. Before he could attack again, Sesshomaru noticed how close Yoko landed to Kagome. He quickly retreated to position himself over his fallen pack mate once again.

Yoko and Hiei took this opportunity to regroup and take inventory of their injuries. Things were not looking good. Yoko's body was starting to shut down from the amount of poison he had inhaled. His right arm was a gruesome sight as acidic saliva ate through the flesh. Already you could start to see the bone within.

Hiei was no better. There were slashes that ran diagonally down his chest ending at his hip. His clavicle was dislocated and poking out of his shoulder causing his arm to hang uselessly at his side.

"I'm afraid we're not going to last much longer Hiei." His golden eyes taking in the scene of the giant dog sniffing the downed kitsune.

"Hn. Speak for yourself Fox. I'm not dying today." He had too much on the line if he lost this battle. Not just his life, but that of Yukina's too.

A loud growl alerted them that their reprieve was over. They quickly jumped out of the way of the incoming attack. But they didn't clear it in time. They were both swatted back into the forest, taking down several trees as they went. The only silver lining was they were far enough from the main battlefield, there was no sign of Sesshomaru's poisonous mist.

Hiei growled low in his throat. He has had about enough of being tossed around like a damn doll! He pooled his energy into his right arm calling upon the Dragon.

The bandages around his arm disintegrated in flames and his Jagan Eye opened fully. Dark storm clouds gathered around the area. Thunder cracked as lightening raced across the sky.

Sesshomaru could sense the change in the air. His fur bristled at the amount of energy being called forth. He arched his back and lowered his upper body in preparation for the attack he knew was to come.

"Dragon of the Darkness Flame!"

A magnificent dragon came forth covered in the dark flames of the netherworld. It flew straight for its opponent with the intent to destroy. But Sesshomaru met it head on.

Hiei and Yoko stood shocked as they watched the giant dog wrestle with the dragon. They had never seen someone withstand his attack like this before. Evade, maybe. But not out right battle it.

Eventually, with the dragon's throat securely in his jaws, Sesshomaru's own demonic energy put enough pressure on the dragons, causing the flames to dissipate. He had defeated Hiei's Dragon.

He had defeated Hiei's Dragon, and he made it look easy.

It wasn't but a few seconds after the dragon was gone before Sesshomaru was upon them again. This time, they didn't have the strength to get out of the way. Yoko closed his eyes in acceptance of what was to come. Hiei openly glared at the approaching demon in defiance.

Suddenly there was a flash of light and Sesshomaru went flying back. Questioningly they glanced behind them, and there stood Yusuke in all his demon glory. His tribal markings stood out proudly against his tan skin while his long knee length hair swayed behind him. As he neared them, they were surprised his eyes were a glowing red.

They have never seen Yusuke so angry before. Purple irises were taking in each of their battered forms. He released a snarl of his own showing how razor sharp his fangs have become. His nose twitched as he took in the smells around him. Taking in information that his eyes could not.

Finally he tore his eyes away from his teammates and toward the one who was about to get his ass thrashed. "Stay here guys." His voice sent shivers down both their spines; it was so dark and guttural. "I'll take care of him."

He took a step forward, but was stopped by Yoko. "Yusuke." He turned his head around to look over his shoulder at the wounded fox. His voice was not needed to ask his silent question. "You don't understand the whole situation. Do whatever you can to take him down. But you must not kill him."

Not fully understanding why Yoko would want to keep such a demon alive, he nodded his ascent. He was always the one to think ten steps ahead of everyone else. So he would listen to his words, and trust his judgment.

Turning his attention back to the angry demon recovering from his Spirit Gun attack, his red eyes narrowed in anger. He cracked his knuckles. He may not kill him, but he sure as hell was going to get a beating.

Kagome whimpered as she slowly opened her eyes. Her body hurt so much. She just wanted to go to sleep and rest. But her instincts were screaming at her to get up.

Looking around, she didn't know where she was. Her nose twitched and her ears swiveled atop her head. In her fuzzy mind she could hear the sounds of a battle taking place. Taking a deep breath, she froze. That was her brother's scent.

Kagome replayed the last few days in her mind. How on earth was Sesshomaru here? She gave a growl and shook her head. She just didn't understand! What was going on?!

Kagome's head jerked to the right, her ears on high alert. Something was calling her. She didn't know what, but her beast was urging her to go. She never ignored her instincts.

On shaky legs she attempted to stand. With panting breaths she moved forward. Her body hurt so much. She thought she was going to pass out again. Suddenly she collapsed in what smelled like Sesshomaru's acidic saliva. 'Eww! Sesshomaru! I don't care if it can't hurt me, it's still gross!' After all, it was only natural that being the Alpha Female of his pack, his special abilities wouldn't hurt her.

With an irritated huff, she willed her body to move again. She slowly made her way through the acid mist filled terrain. In the distance she could hear the battle getting closer. Ignoring that for now, she continued to make her way to where her beast was guiding her.

A few minutes later she began to smell blood and the nauseating scent of burning flesh. But somehow it smelled familiar to her. It wasn't until she crested the top of a hill and saw two figures laying in the valley below did everything come back to her. 'Yoko Kurama! That's right, now I remember. But…'

CLASH!

Kagome's gaze was torn from the two injured demons to the two clashing ones. Her eyes widened. 'He's going all out. But who is he fighting?'

Upon closer inspection she could see that Sesshomaru had sustained a few injuries. But it was nothing compared to the demon he was fighting. What really surprised her was the intensity at which they were trying to tear each other apart. 'What on earth is going on?' Nothing made any sense!

What she saw next made her act without thinking.

Yusuke grunted in pain as he tried to push Sesshomaru's body off of him. His leg as badly broken and he was trapped under the front paws of the Dog General. Sesshomaru was putting all his weight on his paws in order to crush him. Now he was only waiting for the satisfying 'CRUNCH' of his body breaking.

Sesshomaru growled in satisfaction as he applied more pressure. His beast was purring in delight from the grunts of pain Yusuke was making.

He was actually pretty impressed. It wasn't an easy feat to go toe-to-toe with him. If it wasn't for the guaranteed safety of his pack, he may have considered letting him live. But unfortunately that was not the case.

"Damn. This is bad." From his one-legged kneeling position, he glanced back over to Hiei and Kurama. Seeing them so wounded seemed to strengthen his resolve. He would not let them down! By adding his spirit energy into his hands, he started to stand.

"SHOT GUN!"

The powerful blast sent Sesshomaru flying backward through the air. He landed several yards away on his back. His eyes flared even more. No one put him in such a submissive position and lived to tell about it.

He snarled menacingly as he got to his feet. He has had enough of this!

He has been battling this demon for the past hour. He could feel himself tiring and yet no matter how much damage he inflicted, his opponent refused to stay down.

It was time to end it.

He charged his claws with his demon energy. The black energy emanating form his paws snaked its way up this forearms and flared out from his body.

He made for a very ominous sight.

He leaned back on his haunches and used his weight as a spring to propel himself forward into a run. His paws sounded like thunder as the earth gave way under his demonic energy. Leaving behind tiny craters.

He was almost upon the nuisances when he was suddenly pushed to the side by a strong force. He went crashing through several trees before he got a good look at what blindsided him.

With that one look, his instincts started to clash with one another.

A fully transformed giant kitsune was standing over the very demons he was about to destroy. When they made eye contact, he growled out a warning to get out of his way. Her only response was to lower her body to the ground so her belly was directly over her new charges.

"Kurama! What the hell is going on?!"

"Relax, Yusuke. This is actually a very good thing. I don't think we have to worry about Lord Sesshomaru for now."

Yusuke gave a huff when he tried to take a breath and only inhaled fur. He looked around to try to locate his fellow Spirit Detectives, but he couldn't see a damn thing. Trying to wriggle out of his current predicament, he was halted by Hiei.

"Idiot, don't move. She's protecting us."

He resumed his struggling. "Protecting us? How is she protecting us, when she's trying to smother us?!" At the end of his statement he could feel a slight shift of the giant kitsune as she applied a little more pressure to his location.

"Believe me Yusuke, we are in no danger from Kagome. This is how kitsune's protect their young. By doing this, she is basically telling Lord Sesshomaru that he has to go through her to get to us."

Yusuke stilled his struggling at Kurama's explanation and he was surprised that the earlier pressure he felt, lightened. He sighed. "So now what? Are we just supposed to lie here?"

"At this point in time, yes. Unfortunately, we are not strong enough to take down Lord Sesshomaru. With our current injuries, our defeat is almost guaranteed."

"But Kurama, I can't just-"

"Look Yusuke, I know you're frustrated from not knowing the whole situation. But I promise you that if you can listen to me now, I will tell you everything."

Yusuke grunted in acceptance and resigned himself to sitting this match out. Though he didn't like it, he would listen to Kurama just as he always has.

Sesshomaru growled again as he stalked towards Kagome. His instincts were going haywire! On one side, she was being openly defiant to her Alpha. This was not tolerable! But on the other side, he knew she was severely injured and he hasn't seen her in over five hundred years. This is not how their reunion was supposed to be going.

Kagome kept low to the ground, careful not to crush the beings under her. She whined and lowered her head to the ground, but kept her eyes on Sesshomaru.

When he was only a few feet away, he angrily pawed at the ground and nudged the side of her throat wanting her to move. He desperately wanted to kill the beings she was protecting, but he would not harm her to do so.

He growled more harshly and pushed off the ground with his front paws so half his body was in the air. He forcefully brought them down to create a loud 'BANG' to show his displeasure.

This time, she did bare her neck, but she still did not move.

Sesshomaru moved to her side and was about to nudge her again when he finally got a sever reaction from her.

She growled out threateningly when she turned her head in Sesshomaru's direction. She bared her fangs at him and forced her jaws together to create a sharp 'SNAP!'

He reared back in surprise. He knew all to well what her body language was suggesting. But he couldn't believe it! He gave an angry huff and started to pace in front of her.

She was treating them like pack!

Every once in a while he would pause in his pacing to try to approach one of her sides, but she just reacted the same way. Finally getting tired of the ordeal, he sat on his haunches in front of her. His teeth bared to show her his frustration.

Through it all, she never moved from her newly founded pack. Though they were still basically strangers, they have proven themselves to her that they deserved the right. And as such, she would not abandon them to their fate. Even if it was against her own Alpha.

Whimpering her apology, she laid her head down on her front paws. This seemed to do the trick to at least lower his aggressive stance. He lowered himself to the ground so he was mimicking her laying position.

Kagome's ears perked up at the acceptance of her apology. She raised her head from its lowered position and locked eyes with her oldest friend.

They stayed like that for what seemed like hours. Neither one moving or willing to break their stare down. For what seemed like forever, especially to the ones she was guarding, Sesshomaru gave a huff and looked elsewhere into the forest. His silent acceptance.

Kagome purred her appreciation and finally removed herself from the three under her belly. With her job accomplished and her adrenaline-high over, she slowly walked toward Sesshomaru. But her sudden exhaustion took over her body and she collapsed forward. In mid fall she transformed back into her smaller self.

Before she could hit the ground, Sesshomaru caught her on the back of his giant paw. His body was surrounded in a soft white glow as he shrank to her size. He carefully lowered her body to the ground and curled his own around her.

Sesshomaru gave off a soft soothing growl that rumbled through his whole body. Since his body was bigger than Kagome's, he was able to wrap himself around her securely. His long tail curling up and laying across her like a blanket.

He gave one final red-eyed glare to the males that were across the clearing before returning his attention to Kagome. He gave a few licks to her muzzle, and then nuzzled her head when she gave a soft whine.

He had missed this. Oh how he had missed this. After so long of living on his own, it was nice to have pack close again. Someone to look after, and care for. As was every Alpha's job; to care for the well being of the pack. And right now the term 'pack' was revolving around one single person: Kagome.

His alpha instincts were in overdrive and they were spurring on his beast even more to remain in control. Though they were not mates, his alpha female was hurt and needed him for protection and comfort. And he was not about to deny her.

He curled more tightly around her, using his body as a physical barrier against the outside world. His chest vibrated with the strength of his purr he was using to calm her. Her response was to give a soft sigh and snuggle deeper into his soft fur getting ready to take a much-needed nap.

As soon as her breathing evened out, Sesshomaru knew that it would be a few days before she awoke again. So with the knowledge that Kagome was safe for now, he then turned his attention to the three males that were in the clearing with them.

It was time to get to the bottom of why his Alpha Female was in such a condition in the first place. And if she hadn't have stood in-between them, the three males would have long ago been dead at his feet. But sadly she just had to save their hides.

Red eyes glowing eerily, he asked his first question.

"What happened to her?"
