-- Experiments --

Daniel Farady was constantly doing experiments. Whether licking his finger and holding it in the air to check for humidity or discovering the strange light density of the island,or checking clocks to figure a time lapse... if he wasn't doing experiments, he was thinking about experiments - what he could conceivably do to discover a certain principle, what cause would produce what effect.

He felt it necessary to maintain some form of professionalism in everything he did, which was the primary reason that he didn't go anywhere without a button up shirt and tie - his Oxford legacy. That professionalism even made it's way over to how he dealt with Charlotte.

There were plenty of experiments he wanted to do concerning her. In fact, anyone else would not consider things of such a nature to be experiments but Daniel couldn't do anything, or even think about anything without it feigning an air of professionalism - at least to him. The thought of asking her about conducting "experiments" together made him feel awkward. He was lucky enough she dealt with him at all at the moment - a woman like that, a man like him without doing anything that would compromise their mission (or alternatively make Miles flip out on him).

He liked to picture experiments he could do, tests he could run with her. It disturbed him in some way that here he was, with a beautiful woman and all he could do to justify such foolish fantasies was to name them "scientific".

Would it be in the name of science to see how her body would look in this strange light that didn't scatter quite right? Would it be a legitimate test to see what effect the island could have on ones sex drive? To see how fast he could get her red hair drenched with sweat... To check if the electromagnetism would make her react differently to his touch...

But Daniel Faraday had real experiments to conduct. Those to do with the island and not do to with how desperately alone he felt at times which was completely beyond his control or furthermore nothing to do with the fact he was a man who was too easily intimidated to ever do anything but test the water continually with any experiments he tried to conduct.

He would keep "testing the water" with Charlotte but experiments were out of the question... at least for now.
