A/N: Short drabble that came to me after watching the movie. I own nothing!

"Thank your father for me, Landon." Up to the moment those words poured out of Jamie's beautiful mouth, Landon hadn't given his father a second thought. Landon was confused. What had his father done for Jamie? Hegbert exited Jamie's room after her. He touched Landon on the shoulder.

"Your father has been trying to reach you, Landon. He's paying for private home care." Hegbert followed Jamie down the hall, leaving Landon there with his thoughts. Suddenly, Landon knew what he had to do.

It took him well into the afternoon to reach his destination. He knocked on the door to the house once. There was no response, so Landon turned to leave. As he walked back down the path, he heard the door open behind him.

His father stood in the doorway, unsure of his next step. Landon walked slowly toward his father, holding back tears. His father met him halfway and as he drew near, Landon thought about what he should say. He never got the chance, because his father wrapped him up in a hug. This reminded Landon of all the times Jamie had insisted that he needed to make amends with his father, and this made him release the tears that were filling his eyes.

"Thank you." was all he could say. And then he let go of his tears, releasing them onto his father's sleeve. They embraced tightly. Landon couldn't help but think of Jamie. It was so unfair that she was going to die! His heart was shattering into a million pieces, and he couldn't stop crying. He hugged his father harder, hoping that it would alleviate the pain. It didn't, but it helped ease it when he finally realized how much his father cared for him. And that was the best salve of all.
