Lastly, I'm going to share my personal notes for the remainder of what happens in The Dream Land Story. I'm doing this to provide as much closure to my readers (and myself) as is possible here. It's true that I've actually properly written some of the events that I've only just listed here, but it's a small percentage of them, and I don't feel comfortable sharing the remainder of the unpolished story fragments that I have.

(Sequel talk: Just like in the original (or "firstdraft") version of this story, there is a setup for a sequel at the end here, which makes it even more unfortunate that I don't seem to feel motivated to write fan fiction anymore. The sequel was to be titled The Dream Land Story 2: Retribution, and, despite my being not-too-far into revising the first story, I had a lot planned for it. I never found a way to effectively wrap up the character arc of Kirby's anger issues in TDLS, for instance, so that was going to happen in the sequel. Of course, the sequel would have covered Kirby's campaign to bring down Nightmare Enterprises, but its focus was intended to shift back and forth between that and developments back on Pop Star and other planets, where Nightmare Enterprises' presence is threatening. Notably, Fumu was going to play a significant role. I was planning to use the sequel to tie up a number of other loose ends too. Hmm, but this paragraph is already dragging on pretty long. If you want to hear about TDLS2:R, message me or something.)

Anyway, for those interested, here is the outline of what was planned to happen in The Dream Land Story had I finished it.

[Dark Matter finds Kirby in Big Forest and sics Nightmare on him.]

[Nightmare transforms into his wizard form and beats Kirby nearly to death. Kirby gets angry for the first time during the battle.]

[Kirby escapes into the underground tunnels.]

[Meta Knight consults with Dr. Yabui, the Meta Clan's mad scientist, regarding progress on the creation of a clone.]

[King Dedede uses the ancient Dream Lander technology to mutate Marx.]

[The Meta Clan introduces Escargon, whom they had captured from King Dedede, to his now-complete sinister clone, Escargoon.]

[The L.A.P. returns Gooey's call, but can't offer much help due to Dark Matter covering Big Forest.]

[Kirby proceeds through the tunnel and finds a massive open area underground, lit with glowing crystals. A huge fortress is there. Below the hole to the open area is a wrecked Heavy Mole, which had apparently burrowed into there and fallen to its destruction. Kirby gets the sixth Star Rod shard from it, but doesn't know what new ability it gives him without Gooey there to tell him.]

[Kirby inspects the fortress.]

[Meta Knight, having been informed that motion was detected at Majirute Fortress (one of the Meta Clan's old abandoned bases), makes his way there and corners Kirby.]

[Meta Knight ensures that Kirby is too injured to fight back and then monologues about the Meta Clan's intentions and the history of Dream Land. (He states that the Meta Clan's intentions are to take over Dream Land, unseating King Dedede, and return Dream Landers to the state that they were in in ancient times: highly intelligent and technologically advanced.)]

[Meta Knight offers to spare Kirby if he joins the Meta Clan.]

[Kirby refuses and Meta Knight attacks.]

[Kirby gets so angry he tries to fight with punches and kicks despite his injuries.]

[Realizing what Kirby is going through, Meta Knight tells Kirby he will give him one more chance.]

[Kirby wakes up at L.A.P. H.Q.]

[Kirby meets the L.A.P. and they give him a new cell phone of Gooey's. They explain how they found him at some random location and it's revealed that Meta Knight must have put him to sleep (using Noddy Serum) and partially healed him (using Pep Brew) before setting him free. They ask what happened after the last cell phone was stolen and Kirby begins to struggle with the anger coming out of him.]

[Gooey helps Kirby regain some control of his emotions.]

[Gooey explains the power granted by the sixth Star Rod shard, which is that Kirby can now summon abilities at will.]

[Kirby leaves L.A.P. H.Q. and moves to intercept the now-mutated Marx at Heat Top volcano. Marx is headed there to bury the final Star Rod shard in the lava.]

[Kirby fights Marx.]

[Kirby splits Marx down the middle. A black vortex appears and Kirby is pulled into Marx's mind.]

[Kirby confronts Marx and then Dark Matter's eye invades Marx's mind. Kirby fights Dark Matter.]

[Kirby gets angry again as he is losing the fight, but then he wishes he had gotten the Star Rod before splitting Marx apart and the Star Rod suddenly materializes in his hand.]

[Kirby uses the Star Rod to attack Dark Matter, dealing damage to it for the first time, but is caught off guard by Marx attacking him. In the scramble, he inhales, and the Star Rod goes into his mouth, but Dark Matter immediately punches him with a tentacle and he spits it out as a star. The star sails into the "sky" of Marx's mind.]

[Kirby and the shards of the Star Rod are ejected from Marx's mind. Kirby tries to inhale all of them, but Marx snatches one of them out of the air and eats it again.]

[Marx and Dark Matter speed off in different directions. Kirby pursues Marx to Machine Passage. Kirby races to catch him, but Marx surprises Kirby with a huge laser beam from his mouth. Kirby's Warp Star is destroyed and Marx gets away.]

[Gooey tells Kirby that the L.A.P. is sending out a distress signal. Kirby receives another Warp Star from Gooey and heads back to L.A.P. H.Q.]

[Kirby meets Chuchu at L.A.P. H.Q. She was the only one able to escape Dark Matter when it had come upon the L.A.P.]

[Gooey insists that Chuchu join Kirby's quest due to her existence fulfilling a prediction made long ago by Sah-koo-rye.]

[Chuchu insists that she not join because she doesn't want to die like all Star Warriors have. (This reveals to Kirby that all previous Star Warriors were killed on their missions.)]

[Nightmare suddenly appears before Kirby and Chuchu, but is immediately ambushed and killed by Meta Knight, wielding Galaxia. Meta Knight then flies away.]

[Kirby explodes with rage over the revelation about Star Warriors and briefly fights Chuchu. Gooey uses reverse psychology to get Chuchu to join Kirby's quest. Kirby calms down and they set off together.]

[The Meta Clan uses its new Wrath Cannon, a giant laser cannon that Meta Knight can partially power using Galaxia, to attack Dark Matter.]

[Dark Matter gathers its possessed forces and wages war against the Meta Army.]

[The Ripple Star Fairies hold a council to determine what to do about Dark Matter.]

[Kirby and Chuchu abandon their search for Marx in Bubbly Clouds and head to Fantasy Meadows to investigate the battle going on there. They find the Meta Army fighting Dark Matter's forces.]

[Meta Knight approaches them atop one of the Meta Clan's ships. They have a brief conversation where Kirby again refuses to join the Meta Clan. Kirby and Chuchu retreat without Meta Knight attacking them.]

[Before they can leave Fantasy Meadows entirely, Kirby and Chuchu are ambushed by the Queen of Fairies, whom Dark Matter has possessed. They fight her and Kirby copies Light ability from her projectiles, which he uses, blinding everyone fighting below and allowing Dark Matter to withdraw its troops.]

[Kirby and Chuchu head back towards Bubbly Clouds. They see Dark Matter possessing the residents of Central City below them as they fly.]

[Gooey receives a distress signal from King Dedede and tells Kirby to turn back around to save the king (whom they need to keep alive despite him currently being possessed by Dark Matter). Chuchu is to continue to Bubbly Clouds without Kirby.]

[Kirby finds the Meta Clan in pursuit of the Dedede Car, in which the king is trying to escape. Kirby manages to surprise attack the Meta Clan and incapacitate Meta Drone.]

[The Meta Clan's ships are not fast enough to pursue Kirby as he retreats after his attack.]

[Dark Matter manages to possess a large enough percentage of the life on Pop Star for the Dark Nebula to begin to form. (The Dark Nebula was called the Dark Cloud in the original.) If/When the Dark Nebula covers the whole planet, the planet will become a Dark Zero, which is a planet where all life is instantly possessed by Dark Matter.]

[The Meta Clan goes to Tac to get Meta Drone repaired.]

[The encroaching Dark Nebula results in a panic at Tac's place. Meta Drone enters its malfunctioning "dude" state.]

[The Meta Clan heads back to the Meta Base, where Meta Knight decides they need to go after Kirby next. Escargoon presents them with the Air Ride Machines, which he assures them are fast enough to pursue Kirby on his Warp Star. They plan to set a trap for Kirby.]

[Kirby and Chuchu are embroiled in a frustrating game of hide-and-seek with Marx when Cawcun returns, demanding payment for the Underwater Mafia's help against the Halberd. Moments later, Gooey picks up a taunting broadcast from the Meta Clan, seemingly coming from Castle Dedede, where they claim to have planted a huge bomb. Kirby and Chuchu split up again: Chuchu goes with Cawcun and Kirby goes to Castle Dedede, which is now inside the Dark Nebula.]

[Kirby infiltrates Castle Dedede, but, instead of finding the bomb (which it turns out doesn't exist), finds Pop Star's Dream Lander population, possessed, working on building parts for Nightmare Enterprises. He then fights and defeats Captain Stitch.]

[Upon exiting Castle Dedede, Kirby is ambushed by Captain Vul, piloting Mecha Kracko. Captain Vul quickly begins losing the fight, however, and retreats while taunting Kirby, who flares up in anger and pursues. As soon as the chase exits the Dark Nebula, Kirby is surrounded by the rest of the Meta Clan. Meta Knight fights Kirby one-on-one until an opening is created for Kirby to flee.]

[The Meta Clan chases Kirby across Pop Star.]

[Kirby escapes into Titan Tower.]

[Kirby scales Titan Tower. The combatants he fights inside are, in order, the red-suited Poppy Brothers Senior, Chameleo Arm, Bugzzy, Fire Lion, Knuckle Joe, Silica, and Master Hand. Master Hand was there since the tower's creation and stands as each challenger's final test.]

[Having departed for the "green star" while Kirby was in Titan Tower, the Meta Clan prepares for another attack on Kirby upon being notified that he escaped. They bring Yabui, Escargoon and Escargon this time.]

[Kirby gets back in touch with Gooey upon escaping Titan Tower. He receives another Warp Star and goes to meet Chuchu in Bubbly Clouds, where she is ready to use stolen Underwater Mafia technology to corner Marx.]

[Kirby and Chuchu successfully corner Marx and are sucked into his mind. They fight the Million Marx Mob for the final shard.]

[Kirby uses the Star Rod to release Marx from Dark Matter's possession.]

[Marx reveals his true motives, which are the same as in the original, and the three depart for the Nova Comet in the Helper.]

[The Nova Corporation events are the same as they were in the original. Kirby and Chuchu meet with Gryll, are shown the Nova Factory, and witness Marx's suicide mission to destroy the Meta Base.]

[The Ripple Star Fairies hold a second council. Learning of the destruction of the Meta Base has emboldened them, and they prepare for an assault on Dark Matter.]

[Kirby and Chuchu return to Pop Star without the aid of the Nova Corporation that Marx had promised them. Gooey, furious at Gryll for not helping them, tells Kirby to begin the assault on Castle Dedede, hoping to draw out Dark Matter's eye so Kirby can finish it off with the Star Rod. Gooey instructs Chuchu to keep watch from above the Dark Nebula. Gooey also tells Kirby to hurry because the Dark Nebula is nearing completion.]

[Yabui and Escargoon are assigned to make a Dark Matter vaccine using samples they take of the Dark Nebula. Escargon will be the guinea pig.]

[Gooey's plan of assaulting Castle Dedede isn't working, but then the Ripple Star Fairies show up and Dark Matter's eye fights them, allowing Kirby to swoop in for the final battle.]

[Dark Matter is craftier than expected, and uses the fairies it manages to possesses to capitalize on Kirby's anger issues, confusing him enough to cause him to lose the fight. Dark Matter possesses Kirby. The Star Rod falls to the ground far below.]

[Gooey realizes Kirby has lost. He prepares to leave Pop Star, as the Dark Nebula is about to be completed, meaning the planet's Dark Zero status is imminent. He and Kawasaki get in the Star Ship and fly to Chuchu. They tell her what happened and the three depart for Halfmoon to plan their next move.]

[Tac rescues R.O.B. from Nightmare Enterprises.]

[Dark Matter, victorious over Pop Star, converses with Nightmare as the Dark Nebula becomes complete.]

[At the advent of the Dark Zero, the Meta Clan is immediately enveloped by it. Everyone in the ship is possessed except Meta Drone, who is a robot, and Meta Knight, who is holding Galaxia at the time. Galaxia activates automatically, protecting Meta Knight, but corrupting him at the same time. He destroys Meta Drone and flees his possessed comrades.]

[Dark Matter tortures Kirby in his dreams in a similar manner as in the original.]

[Dark Matter has a brief conversation with Nightmare about Kirby before setting off for the next planet it will conquer, specifically the nearest one to Pop Star: Aqualiss.]

[With R.O.B.'s help, Tac acquires the Star Rod.]

[Gooey and Chuchu are fiddling with equipment in Gooey's previously-abandoned base on Halfmoon when his old extremely powerful radar equipment notifies them that the Star Rod is on the move, and is currently en route to Aqualiss. They depart to intercept it there.]

[Tac arrives on Aqualiss and tries to sell the Star Rod to Elieel, but is subdued by Chuchu when she and Gooey make it there as well. Gooey and Chuchu acquire the Star Rod, but can do nothing more with it than swing it around without Kirby's power from the Fountain of Dreams.]

[Meta Knight has a mental battle with Galaxia and forces himself to commit suicide in the same manner as in the original.]

[Lalala informs Gooey and Chuchu that Dark Matter is taking over Aqualiss now. Lololo has already been possessed again.]

[The three head to the location of Castle Lola on Aqualiss to confront Dark Matter's eye, with Chuchu wielding the Star Rod. Dark Matter recognizes Gooey, and his origin as a failed biological clone of Dark Matter is explained.]

[A short battle ensues. Severely outmatched, they try to escape, but Chuchu and Lalala get possessed and Gooey has to grab the Star Rod and leave without them.]

[Gooey returns to Pop Star and enters the Dark Zero, gaining new abilities instead of being possessed. Dark Matter's eye pursues him. He quickly locates Kirby in Castle Dedede and forces the Star Rod into his mouth.]

[Kirby won't wake up. Gooey carries him outside, where they are blocked by Dark Matter's eye.]

[Dark Matter attacks, but Kirby wakes up after one hit. In a trancelike state, he uses the Star Rod to fight and destroy Dark Matter.]

[The Dark Nebula vanishes. Pop Star is suddenly back to normal. Everyone is released from possession.]

[Kirby wakes up in his house. At first he is disoriented, but then goes outside to see a big party going on. It's a sunny day in Vegetable Valley and a celebration of Dark Matter's defeat is being held. Kirby is honored as a hero. He is also reunited with Chuchu and meets Gooey face-to-face for the first time.]

[Gooey receives word that Meta Knight is dead and is told to come quickly to Titan Tower to see the body. He breaks Galaxia when he tries to pull it out and Titan Tower falls.]

[In a large ceremony, Kirby returns the Star Rod to the Fountain of Dreams. The Fountain's power is renewed. In a bright light, the fountain becomes more vibrant than ever, to the crowd's delight and confusion.]

[The party ended, Kirby returns home, Chuchu goes to L.A.P. H.Q., and Gooey heads back to his base. Gooey, however, is tailed by Cawcun, who learns base's location.]

[Gooey is notified by his computers that a new planet has appeared in the Starred System.]

[A Destrayar comes down from Neo Star. Nightmare Enterprises demands that Kirby be surrendered to them, or they will destroy Pop Star.]

[Kirby is given the Star Rod and cell phone again. (Removing the Star Rod from the fountain does not completely deprive the fountain of power this time.) Kirby is then sent to Neo Star on a new mission, one to bring down Nightmare Enterprises. The Ripple Star Fairies then destroy the Destrayar and create a protective barrier around Pop Star that nothing can get through (although they work with Gooey to make a special type of hyperspace bubble for him to use to send Maxim Tomatoes to Kirby).]

Epilogue

[Tac gains access to the gold at the top of Titan Tower.]

The End
