Light was on the verge of a breakthrough. As he scrolled through pages of information about Yotsuba Group, everything seemed to fit together, with just one missing piece. And if he thought hard enough about it, he would surely—

"LIIIIIIGHT!"

He was suddenly tackled from the side, a pair of arms locking tightly around his neck.

"Misa-Misa wanted to see her Light!"

"Uh…" He glanced down at the girl in his lap. "Nice to see you too, Misa."

She squealed happily as he silently cursed her. He knew that if he'd just thought about it about more, he would have figured something important out—but Misa had distracted him so much that he'd completely lost his train of thought.

"I missed you," she cooed into his chest. "You've been working way too hard and you haven't been coming to see your Misa. We need to do something together, just the two of us."

"The three of us," L corrected, holding up his wrist so that the chain connecting him to Light made a clinking sound.

Misa gave him a dirty look. "Well, all right, the three of us…it doesn't really matter. I just want to go on a date with my Light!"

"I want to see you, too," Light lied, "but I don't think now is a good—"

"Yes, it is!" she interrupted.

"Well, no, it really—"

"Yes, it is."

"Misa, I'm afraid that—"

"Nooo, Light," she whined, her voice getting steadily shriller. "I want to be with you right now. Don't you love me?"

"Misa…" Light trailed off helplessly. He wasn't sure how to break it to her that he didn't love her and really just wanted her to go away.

"There is something that Misa-san should know," L put in, and Light looked at him gratefully. Maybe he could get rid of her.

"What, Ryuzaki?" she asked impatiently.

"Come over here, please."

With a loud sigh, she reluctantly released Light, slid off the chair, and went to stand next to L.

"I will tell Misa-san what always happens after Light-kun and I finish working on the Kira case," he said.

She beamed. "If it's about Light, then of course Misa wants to hear it!"

"Whatever you say, Misa-san. We go into the room that we share, and then I remove all of Light-kun's clothing and throw him down on the bed, and we make love all night long."

Looking horrified, Misa's eyes widened and her mouth dropped open.

"And Light-kun loves every second of it," L continued. "After that, we—"

Misa fled.

L gazed after her impassively. "Well, that got rid of Misa-san."

For a moment, Light was too surprised by what L had done to speak. Finally, he said, "I appreciate your getting her to leave, Ryuzaki. But…don't you think you went a bit too far? I mean, you could have just said I had to work or something—you didn't have to lie like that."

"Oh, but I was telling the truth."

Light frowned, confused. "You were—what? How were you telling the truth?"

"I will show you, Light-kun."

L pounced on him.
