Yet another one-shot of utter silliness that I wanted to try for the sake of…well…trying. Sometimes, that's all the reason one needs. For me, anyway.
Thanks to Fly, Howling, and my ten-year-old nephew (whom I won't name for privacy and minor issues) for helping me wallow through the wide world of l33t/l337.
There were few things that could surprise Cloud anymore, but it took a quarter of a second after Yuffie's fateful exclamation for him to almost choke on his coffee. Setting the mug back down, he stared at the small gathering of juveniles with his eyes wide and his jaw dropped.
As it was, it was poor weather that day, and thus Sora had hauled his two friends over for shelter. Yuffie had shown up moments later, and the four had settled down for a board game of sorts. Which should have been. Currently, though, something must have happened against any of Yuffie's logic, as she was flailing. And shouting something. Something he thought he'd never have to hear.
"OMGWTF?!" she hollered again, pointing straight at Riku's marker, now happily sitting where her own piece used to be. "HAX!!"
Riku grinned and said nothing. Yet. No, it was Sora who uttered next something that wasn't even a word: "lol PWND!"
"Sry, Yuff," Kairi piped next over a giggle, to which Yuffie finally sat back with a pout and a mutter.
"j00 ppl suxxorz"
Eventually, as Cloud remained shell-shocked and staring incredulously, Leon joined him at the table with his own mug. Looking from Cloud to the gathering, back to Cloud and back to the gathering, it took him barely a moment to understand what was happening. Still, he said nothing, and joined the other in quiet study of the ongoing game. By now, Yuffie had pretty much calmed down again, and they were moving on to other matters as they played.
"s0," Yuffie started up again, "h0w r j00?"
"s0, s0," Sora replied with a casual shrug. Then he added, "n j00?"
Another shrug, this time from Yuffie. "m3 c h0wt mans3xxorz."
This time, Leon groaned into his hand, and the three wielders of the keyblade sat up straight. Cloud figured he was missing something very important.
"ZOMGBBQ!" Kari squealed. "N0WAI! ORLY?!"
"YARLY!" Yuffie squealed back. "i haz pixx!"
"ORLY?!"
"YARLY!"
"Yuffie," Leon finally broke in, much to Cloud's surprise and later added confusion, "stfu plz."
"wtf Y??"
"stfu"
"plzzzzzzzz" she whined. He gave her a dirty glare, then uttered next:
"..!.."
"...s0z"
Whatever he just said, Cloud saw that it worked, as the juveniles toned down and went back to talking about more innocent things. At last, the weather cleared, and three of the four stood up.
"gtg, ttyl," Riku said, waving once in Cloud and Leon's general direction before they turned to leave.
"k, c u," Yuffie replied, already putting away the board game.
And at last, just like that, quiet reigned once more. For a moment, Leon looked happier from behind his mug.
"…Leonhart," Cloud finally dared to utter, "does this happen often?"
"This," Leon answered, "is why I try not to stay home when Yuffie has friends in the same area."
"… I suddenly don't know if I'm feeling old, or socially challenged."
"You get used to it."
I extend my apologies to those who may find Leon's attempt at l337 offensive; I'll try to make a better middle finger sign if I can, but there's a limit to what FFnet's document manager allows.
Oh, and to address something from A Needle in a Haystack, the last two lines that come after my endnote? It's on purpose.
I like me my dramatic thing-ers.
