A/N

Previously, poems I've done have often had only two lines per stanza rhyme. However, I wanted to attempt a challange of rhyming couplets between each stanza, which is considerably more difficult. There's probably a technical term for that, but when studying poetry, it was always more to do with meaning than form. If they weren't simply fun to write, I wouldn't be posting poems up here.

Anyway, this was the result I got.

Call of Duty

If I should die please don't bury me deep,

I'll just be engulfed by a bunch of zerg creep.

I don't ask for pity, I don't want no tears,

Cause we're the marines, we 'aint got no fear.

...

It's all come before, it all has been done.

Nuking Korhal? Oh man that was dumb.

We got our own back on the Confederate boys,

Using zerg against them, eliciting such joy.

...

Rebels and aliens, automatons too,

We go everywhere, there's nothing we don't do.

We raised the eagle on Grnaki Prime,

The rebels, they then knew that it was their time.

...

And now more than ever, we're tested still,

Rebels and zerg, all close for the kill.

We don't need conscription, we don't need resoc,

'Cause we're the marines, our clips clicking like clocks.

...

And if there's the time where it seems time to fry,

Just look above, look up to the sky.

Terrans if lasers be up there like rain,

Protoss if plasma, Purification again.

...

And if you soldier should actually die,

If you start rising like a bird that can fly,

Just remember that it was a well fought game,

'Cause you fought and died in the Emperor's name.
