Chapter 51: Just An "Average" Weekend

It was finally the weekend and I was glad to be home. I didn't have to wear the duck uniform and was able to wear clothes that I felt comfortable in. The sounds coming from outside my window indicated that it was a beautiful day. Birds were chirping. The neighborhood kids were running amok. That meant getting to lay outside and read a book. After doing my morning activities, I headed down towards the kitchen to see whether my family was awake.

"Ah good timing," Fuka said with a grin. "Make me some breakfast."

"Fuka, this has got to end soon," I cried.

"It ends when I say it ends."

It was in that moment that Otou-san walked into the kitchen. This was it. Fuka's reign will finally end and I will be free! I looked at Fuka and before she knew it, I was shouting to my father.

"Otou-san, in the Host Club we sometimes dress in cosplay and my last one required me to wear a skirt that is shorter than normal!"

"I know." He sat down and took a drink of his coffee.

"Huh?" Fuka and I looked at him.

"Kyoya-kun always calls me and keeps me updated on your club activities. He always asks for permission whether you're allowed to wear certain costumes. He even sends me photos!" He pulled out his wallet and took out a picture of me dressed as the March Hare.

"Since when have you been receiving these photos?!" I questioned him.

He looked me dead in the eye before laughing, "Since the moment you joined that club. He even contacts Ranka-san. I also get some photos from Yuzuha-san. I have those magazine clips in my office."

"Well, I guess I can't bribe you anymore." Fuka shrugged before making herself some breakfast.

During breakfast Otou-san told us that he wanted us to stay in today to clean the house and gather old clothes that we didn't use anymore so that we could donate them. Fuka asked him where Kazumi was and why she wasn't helping out, but apparently she had slept over a classmate's house so they can work on a project that was due soon. Lucky. I began to clean the kitchen when the doorbell rang. I dropped the rag that I was using to clean the table and headed to the door. I opened it and was ready to slam it back closed.

"Fair maiden!" The Zuka Club stood outside my house.

"How do you even know where I live?" I deadpanned.

"We have our ways," Chizuru said.

"Can I help you?"

"Why yes you can, fair maiden! You see, we are having our annual show and our vocalist got so sick that she can no longer sing," Benio said with full dramatic flair.

"We heard that you're a singer and we would like you're help," Hinako finished.

"I'm sorry, but we are having family over soon." Fuka appeared out of nowhere.

Bless my little sister.

"Yeah, I completely forgot that they were coming today." I tried to look apologetic. "I'm sorry that I can't help you. Have you consider probably just using a recording or something?"

The look that they gave me showed that they did not.

"What a brilliant idea!" Hinako cheered.

"Why didn't we think of that?" Chizuru began to pull out her phone and call people.

Benio got on her knees and grabbed my hand, "Thank you, fair maiden, for giving us this brilliant idea. If you have the chance, do come see our show. I bid you adieu."

And just like that, they pirouetted away to the car that brought them here.

"Are those the girls that tried to get you to transfer to their school?" Fuka asked while I closed the door.

"Yeah. They're a rather odd bunch." I sighed and headed back to the kitchen. "Are people really coming over here to visit?"

"Not that I'm aware of." Fuka began helping me in the kitchen. "I mean, knowing Otou-san, he might have invited Ranka-san and Haruhi over for a BBQ."

"Doubt it," I said as I began to wash dishes. "Haruhi would have called me and asked if we needed something."

We finished off the kitchen and moved onto the living room. We assigned tasks for us to tackle the room much faster. As much as I disliked cleaning sometimes, it was nice to actually put in some effort to make the house nice. Plus, when I do eventually leave the house, I'll know how to keep my own place nice and tidy. The bottom floor was finally clean and soon after we quickly finished the second. I retreated back to my room to take a well deserved break. As soon as I flopped onto my bed, Otou-san walked in.

"I forgot to tell you that Yuzuha-san is coming over so we can discuss some new pieces we are working on and so she can take your old clothes for her new charity project."

Makes sense why he had us cleaning the whole house. Kazumi, you lucky punk. Seeing that I know needed to raid my closet, might as well organize it too. Once everything was out, I began to create piles of clothes that I was going to keep, donate, and throw out. There are just some things that you can't donate due to how old they are. I am just realizing that I have a lot of old clothes. I was back in the closet pulling out more clothes when my phone rang. Kaoru was calling.

"Hey Kaoru, how are-"

"Where are you?!" A chorus of screams were heard.

"I'm at home. Why?" I sat down, going back to organizing my clothes.

"The Zuka Club-"

"Oh, they stopped by earlier," I interrupted. "They needed some help with a project or something, but I told them that we had visitors coming. But hey, Kaoru, Hikaru. You're Okaa-san is gonna be here later."

"Yeah, she told us. We were going to stop by to pick you up for today's adventure, but she needed to see you and your family," Hikaru said.

"Can we please go back to fact that the Zuka Club is planning something malicious!" Tamaki screamed. "Haruhi has been kidnapped!"

"What do you mean kidnapped?"

The sound of struggling was heard between two men and one of them was tackled to the ground.

"Setsuna-chan, it's me," Ranka-san took over the phone. Poor Tamaki. He must be underneath the okama right now.

"Hello, Ranka-san. How are you?"

"Very good. Now let me explain what happened. Haruhi was heading to the grocery store when two girls from Lobelia showed up. They seemed chummy so they took Haruhi into their car. But now that we know it's the Zuka Club, Haruhi must be rescued!"

"That's right, Haruhi-papa!" Hikaru and Kaoru shouted in the background.

"Then I guess this is an adventure that you all are going to have without me. Make sure to send me pictures. It'll make me feel like I'm there in spirit."

"Will do. Bye bye, Setsuna-chan!"

"Bye, Ranka-san. See you all later!" I hung up after hearing multiple chorus of goodbyes.

Before I returned to the task I was working on, I sent Takashi a quick message. I told him to keep me updated on everything, since I had the feeling that he would be more responsible in doing so. Plus, I mentioned that I missed him. Almost a minute later, he replied back that he would and that he was missing me too. Sigh. This rescue mission seems like it's going to be an interesting one. There is a high possibility that Haruhi is already doing something utterly ridiculous. Bless that girl.

It wasn't long before I finished and began to place the clothes I was keeping onto my bed. I'll organize those later. I grabbed the clothes that I was going to donate and headed downstairs to ask Otou-san where I should leave them. There dressed in a beautiful white blouse and black pencil skirt was Yuzuha-san sitting in the living room with Otou-san. The two were chatting as I entered the room.

"Hello, Setsuna-chan! How have you been?" Yuzuha-san greeted me.

"I'm doing good, thank you. And yourself?" I asked.

"I'm doing well dear. I'm surprised my boys haven't attempted to drag you out today."

"I told them I was busy today, so they are having an adventure without me. Oh, here are some clothes that I'm donating," I gestured to the pile in my arms. "They are clean and I made sure that there are no tears in them."

"Thank you, dear. This charity idea was actually my husband's idea."

"And how is he doing?" Otou-san asked.

"He's well. Currently out for business."

"Oh, what does he do?" I asked out of curiosity. This is the first time that I have heard about the Twins' father. He wasn't there at the dinner when I first met them.

"He works for a software engineer company. He's a busy bee," she giggled. "And since I had some free time today, I decided why not come visit you all. It has been a while since I've seen you, Setsuna-chan. Ah, Fuka-chan! Look how much you've grown since I last saw you."

Fuka had entered with an extremely large pile of clothes. She placed the pile down and greeted Yuzuha-san. The two of us went to prepare the adults tea and some light snacks as she began to see all the clothes that we brought. They thanked us once we brought it to them. We sat down as Yuzuha separated the clothes as she and Otou-san discussed the new line of clothes that they were working on. Otou-san had samples with him of the different types of fabrics and how they each took to the dyed he had placed. I always enjoyed watching him work. He could have hired other people to do the work for him, but he was a do-it-yourself kind-of man.

My phone vibrated and I pulled it out to see it was a message from Takashi. According to him, the Zuka Club had Haruhi take the female lead. From the picture that he sent me, she looked so monotone. He asked if I had any ideas to help them get into the building without making it look suspicious.

'Renge told me that they have a security team or something. Why not first infiltrate that?' I thought to myself before writing it out in text form.

He said that it was a great idea and that he would tell the group. I replied back saying to let me know what happens next. This was getting to be good.

"That reminds me," Yuzuha-san turned to look at me and Fuka as we returned to the room. "I have gift for you girls."

Fuka and I turned to look at each other in shock. We've never really owned high brand clothing. The most recent thing that I owned in my closet, besides my uniform, was the dress that the Host Club gifted me for my birthday. As she began to look through the box that she had brought, another text had arrived to my phone. It was a picture of Hunny and Tamaki wearing a pink shirt and in red font read "Beni Bara" along with a red rose. I smiled and replied back asking whether he was wearing that shirt too. A few seconds later and there was another picture. This time, it was a picture of Takashi wearing the same shirt as the other two. He wrote back saying that they all were wearing it, except for Kyoya. Apparently, he had disappeared. I quickly replied saying that he was probably scheming something while they did all the work. As I was putting my phone down, Yuzuha-san began to pull out many pieces of clothes. There were jackets, cardigans, jeans, shorts, and blouses in various colors. They were all placed into three separate piles.

"How were you able to get our correct sizes?" Fuka began to look through a pile, seeing that it had her size.

"Your Otou-san gave them to me. Except for Setsuna-chan. Hikaru and Kaoru provided it for me."

There is no privacy in my life. I looked through the pile that had my size and noticed that there are more color pieces in my pile than my sisters. Mustard yellows, teals, greens, burnt oranges, and some pinks were used in blouses and outerwear. The shorts and jeans were either a dark blue or black.

"Hikaru and Kaoru wanted me to make sure that you had more color in your wardrobe," Yuzuha-san smiled at me when she saw me looking at her.

"They told you about my closet, didn't they." I was straight to the point.

"Well, it's no fun just wearing dark colors. It's nice to have some color in life."

"I appreciate it. Thank you, Yuzuha-san for the clothes," I smiled. "It's nice of you to do this."

"Oh, it's nothing. Kenji-san tells me how hard you all are working in school and says that you deserve the best. So here I am, providing the best. Think of me as your fairy godmother," the woman cheered as she pulled Fuka and I into a hug. We both tried to hug her back, but the grip she had on us kept our arms in place. Just like Hikaru and Kaoru whenever I tried to escape their charades. I hope their father isn't like this.

"By the way, Setsuna-chan," she finally released us. "There is one more thing that I have for you. Think of this as an early graduation gift."

Yuzuha-san sat back down and grabbed a portfolio from her purse. She began to search through the pages before stopping and pulling a single one out. With bright eyes, she showed it to Otou-san, who smiled, and then handed it to me. An A-Line floor length gown with cap sleeves was drawn onto a faceless figure. There were flower embellishments around the bust area that didn't cover the top completely. Both that and the dress weren't colored.

"This was supposed to be part of our Fall collection last year, but I felt that it wasn't ready to be released to the public. Now I'm gifting this one-of-a-kind gown to you." Yuzuha pulled me down so that I could sit next to her. "Hikaru and Kaoru are planning to throw you, Takashi-kun, and Hunny-kun a graduation ball. But don't tell them I that I told you. It's our secret."

I went to hug the older woman, "Thank you so much, Yuzuha-san. Thank you."

"It's my pleasure! Is there a specific color and material that you'd like for me to use?"

"I can't think of any from the top of my head. Would it be possible to see fabric samples? I'd rather see them in person."

"What a great idea. I'll call your Otou-san to let you know when I'll be free."

Yuzuha-san stayed a little longer before leaving back to her home. She had some work to do before having dinner with her husband and children. Speaking of her kids, I haven't received an update from them in a while. I grabbed my cell phone began to text Takashi, asking him what had happened. While waiting for a text message to be sent back, I grabbed all the clothes that were given to me and headed back up to my room.

"Time to reorganize everything."

Now that everything was thrown onto my bed, I began to organize them. My system of organizing clothes was pretty basic. Jeans, shorts, and skirts were hanged in on section. Then came shirts and blouses that needed to be hung. Followed by outerwear, like jackets, cardigans, and others. Lastly it was dresses. This shouldn't take too long. But I know the one thing that is gonna take a while is folding up all my shirts. I have way too many. My phone rang and I went to answer it.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Suna-chan," Haruhi replied back.

"Haruhi! What happened?" I asked her as I sat down on the floor. I put her on speaker mode so that I could continue working.

"Long story short, the Zuka Club took me from outside my home. Made me be part of their play. I had to wear heavy makeup and an even heavier dress. Apparently, Benio tried to take my first kiss, but also show the girls of the club how men act so they could act like that too."

"She really did try to steal your first kiss?"

"Yeah, but it had already happened."

"When was this?!"

"Long time ago, when we had this dance party and a girl, Kasugazaki Kanako, was crowned as the Queen of the Ball. Anyways, Tamaki was suppose to give her a kiss on the cheek, but Hikaru and Kaoru changed it last minute to me. I was going to say no, but Kyoya promised to cut my debt by a third."

"Did he?"

"He did. As I made my way down someone pushed me and I ended up kissing her on the lips."

I stayed quiet for a second before laughing. "That would only happen to you."

"You would laugh," she giggled from her side of the phone.

"I mean, c'mon Haruhi. It's like you're a character in a manga and this is the kind of stuff that would happen. May I have permission to write your story one day?"

"I give you permission, as long as I get some form of payment."

"Deal. What are you up to now?"

"Hiding in my bathroom from the Host Club."

"They're still there?"

"Well apparently all this running and 'spy' work made them want snacks and desserts. So now they are eating here. What are you up to?"

"Organizing my closet. Hikaru and Kaoru's mom came to our house and brought us some clothes and we gave her some of our old ones to donate."

"That's nice of her. Kaoru told me that she has some for me too."

"Bless that woman."

We both laughed. In the background, I could hear Hikaru and Kaoru shouting for Haurhi to come back and hang out with them.

"Come over tomorrow, Suna-chan."

"For sure. I'll text you later then."

I'm kinda sad that I didn't get to be a part of this adventure. Next one for sure. While I was on the phone with Haruhi, Takashi had texted me and wrote that everything had gone well and that they were back at Haruhi's house. I wrote back that she had called me and explained everything that happened. The two of us kept texting back and forth until it was time for me to sleep. We need to plan another date ASAP.

The Next Day

"Haruhi! I'm here!" I knocked on her door, announcing my presence. "I brought cake!"

"Come in, Suna-chan!" Haruhi opened the door.

I took off my shoes and presented Haruhi the cake. As I walked in more, I saw another girl there. She had tanned skin, bleached-blonde hair, fake eyelashes, and a lot of makeup on. Why does her face look kinda similar to someone?

"Suna-chan, this is Yasumura Mei. She's Misuzu's daughter," she whispered the last part to me. "Mei-chan, this is Ayase Setsuna. One of my friends from Ouran."

"Nice to meet you." I greeted Mei. I see the resemblance to the okama.

"Nice to meet you, too. Are you a rich kid?" Mei bluntly asked.

"Nope. I got lucky and got a scholarship too. What school do you go to?" I asked her as I sat down. Haruhi went to bring us drinks for the cake I brought.

"Umeshiba Girls' High School. No boys. I'm jealous of you and Haruhi. So many attractive boys in your school."

"I agree with you there," I laughed. "How do you two know each other?"

"Our father's are friends," Mei told me with a slight disliking tone.

Ah, it's like that.

"That's pretty cool. When did you start hanging out with Haruhi?"

"This past summer. I was staying here for a few days and hung out with her. I even met that Host Club that she is in. Tamaki is so cute!"

I felt a sweatdrop adorn my head, "Tamaki is a good friend. Even though he dramatic sometimes."

"Besides," Haruhi entered the room with a tray in hand, "Suna-chan has a thing for Mori-senpai."

"Haruhi! It's not a thing!" I gave her a shocked look before laughing. "We're dating."

"He's the tallest guy, right?" Mei grabbed a piece of cake. She ate a bit before continuing, "I can see you two together. You both would make a pretty bitchin' couple."

"Mei, language!" Haruhi told her.

"What? It's true!"

"That's the first time I heard a compliment like that," I laughed. "I like it."

"See," Mei pointed her fork at me. "I knew I'd like her. Haruhi always talks about you. She tells me that you keep her sane and that you always have fun doing random things. Sounds like a fun time."

"Haruhi," she turned to look at me. "I like her. Can I adopt Mei as my child?"

The three of us continued on eating and talking about anything that came up. I learned that Mei has a twin sister and that she has a passion for fashion. She makes her own clothes and everything. I asked her what got her into fashion and she told me that she wanted to be "individualistic." Her goal is to become a famous fashion designer and she is the biggest fan of Yuzuha-san.

"Haruhi promised that I was going to get to meet her, right?" Mei wrapped her arm around Haruhi.

"When I get invited to Hikaru and Kaoru's house I will bring you along," Haruhi patted her head.

"Let me know when you go so I can tag along," I told them. "I'm sure it's going to be a fun experience."

"Setsuna, you are gonna be there no matter what!"

I gave Haruhi one of the twins' infamous smiles.

"Mei-chan, Suna-chan, I feel that from now on, I can't leave the two of you alone. Who knows what can happen."

Mei and I just looked at each other before laughing. I think this is going to be that start of a beautiful friendship.

"Hey, Halloween is next month! Setsuna, can I make you a costume? I love Halloween!"

Definitely a beautiful friendship.

Author's Notes:

It's been over a month and I do apologize for the lateness of this chapter. Since January, I've been sick with a cold. It would go away for a day or two and then return with vengeance. Then for about a week, I fell into a depression about work and how my life has been going. I'm feeling better now so I went back to writing.

A new character has been introduced! If you haven't read the manga, then you won't know about Mei. I love her character and I knew that she had to be included in my story. Also, if you've read the manga, you'd noticed the timeline. In this story, I'm going to try and merge chapters and the timeline together with my own. Mei was originally introduced in chapter 42 before summer vacation had started back in chapter 18. Well more like around that time. I also forgot to mention in the last chapter about Kanazuki Reiko. Her character appears in chapter 41. She'll be making a comeback soon.

I have my timeline ready so I'm hoping that my updates become more consistent. I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
