Disclaimer: This short Dresden Files TV series fan fiction is a cross over with Forever Knight because the building used for Harry's apartment was also Nick's apartment on Forever Knight. I know Forever Knight was set in Canada whereas The Dresden Files is only filmed in Canada and set in Chicago but since it really was the same building let's pretend they were in the same city.

Forever Knight belongs to Tristar / Columbia. The Dresden Files belongs to Jim Butcher and the Scifi Channel.

For those who don't know Forever Knight was a Canadian TV series from the early nineties about a homicide detective who was secretly an eight-hundred-year-old vampire trying to repay society for his sins.

The following sort of explains what Harry's neighbours went through during The Dresden Files episode Things that go Bump

The Neighbours

Nick Knight was a good neighbour. Many people would want to live next door to someone like Nick Knight. He was quiet. He kept to himself. He was polite. He wasn't very talkative and he was always apologetic for whatever strange noises you might have heard at his place. He was a vampire, an eight-hundred and sixteen-year-old immortal who appeared to be in his thirties. He was also a homicide detective. He kept his secret very well with the assistance of Dr. Natalie Lambert, a local coroner.

Nick could tolerate a lot of things. He was relatively patient but these new neighbours. They were too much to handle. The man renting the shoppe down stairs claimed to be a wizard. Okay, fine. Nick was a man of the world. He could deal with that. That wasn't so bad. How many Wiccans and such were in this city? Harry Dresden kept to himself about as much as Nick did. Neither of them were very socialable. It helped to avoid questions that way.

Nick slept during the day and sometimes, when he was sure only one heart beat was present down stairs, he could hear a second voice. Was that a television? No. Dresden was talking to the person. A ghost? Nick had seen quite a few strange things. He could handle that.

Then came the fighting. Every week someone was fighting down there. Bangs, howls, and clanking sounds of struggle and muffled screams and sometimes even the stench of death… Nick's heroic instincts made him want to go down there and intervene but the police somehow were always on scene pretty quickly when these things happene down there.

It was hard to sleep with a neighbour like Harry Dresden. The strange smells from that old secret room bothered Nick too. Once or twice it seemed like an electrical barrier that Nick couldn't see seemed to be blocking him from entering the very building. Dresden would always grin at him sheepishly and remove some paper banners from the wall and apologize…

One day Nick was laying on his sofa with his hands folded over his chest. He was in the deep death-like sleep of a vampire. His apartment was well protected from day light. Suddenly though everything went quiet… All the busy noises of the city were gone. No traffic, no birds chirping, no chatter of people in the buildings around them just the sound of voices in Dresden's place.

Nick sat up on the sofa. Something was wrong with the atmosphere. He picked up the black remote control and pressed a button. The blinds on the large windows slowly began to move by a tiny motor set in the window frame. It was ten AM and the sky was completely black.

Nick stared with wide eyes out at the darkness. The darkness of Hell! The wizard had transported their entire building into Hell!

'That's it! I'm moving!'
