Jiraiya knew he had been done for the moment he had set foot inside Amegakure, there had never been any doubt in his mind that Tsunade had sent him on his last mission. He could still hear her voice in his head, see the sadness in her eyes...It was so much like the day Dan had died...

So Tsunade must have known, too...

Jiraiya dodged another blow from Pein, carefully calculating the orange-haired nin with the rin'negan eye, his thoughts still straying to Tsunade and all the things he felt for the extrodinary woman. All the things he'd never said...

A ninja is never supposed to die with regrets, but Jiraiya knew that he had no choice.

As Pein's six bodies bagan to move in, Jiraiya began to count down the list.

"Three; I wish I had never smutted up Icha Icha just to see it sell..."

Pein lashed out with a shiruken while a gigantic monster appaered behind another. Jirayi dodged with all the skill of the legendary sannin.

"Two: I wish I had told Naruto who his father was..."

Pein pushed through Jiraiya's defence, persuing his old sensei down a street to a dead end. Jiraiya took a deep breath. He'd have to use his ultimate defence...he was determined to at the very least weaken the Akatsuki leader. He was determined to make Tsunade proud, if only here on his deathbed. it was all Jiraiya had wanted since he'd laid eyes on the beautiful blonde. he wanted to make her proud, protect her, defend her...he wanted her to love him. The lust didn't matter to him, despite his reputation...

Jiraiya made a few hand seals, drawing on his natural chakra to enter sage mode. This was his last line of defence, and if this failed, there was no hope of defence...

And just like that, Pein had broken through, and Jiraiya felt the Orange haired man's foot collide with his throat, sending him backwards into the ocean.

Jiraiya could feel the cold, salty water filling his ruptured lungs as the water stung at the wound on his neck, and as he sank slowly to the bottom, his last regret filled his mind...

"One: I wish I had told Tsunade how I felt..."
