Sarah thought back to her recent meeting with the green Titan known as Beast Boy. She had told him that the girl he knew was just a memory. A part of her wished she could have told him the whole truth. She had been Terra, though her memories of that past life were fragmented at best. Her first clear memories were from a few years ago when she found herself in that cave covered in volcanic ash. She didn't know who she was or how she got there. All she knew was that it was a place of great pain and that she had to get out of there. After what felt like hours of crawling through the tunnel she finally emerged, naked and shivering, from the earth. She felt lucky to have found a family that was willing to adopt a teenage blond with amnesia. The doctors found evidence of severe oxygen deprivation, dehydration and several other medical conditions which they said could explain her amnesia. They said it was a miracle that she had survived, but they didn't think she would ever get her memory back. A part of her wished they had been right.

They started as nightmares at first. For week she would wake up screaming and gasping for breath, with the memory of being encased in molten rock fresh in her mind, like an old wound that had been reopened with a hot and rusted knife. It would take hours of gentle rocking by her adopted mother before she could go back to sleep.

Then more memories came back while she was awake. Some were pleasant, while others were not. They were still only bits and pieces, but enough for her to remember that she had been a Teen Titan. That she had been able to reshape solid rock like dough. She could still tell a lot from the just touching the earth, but her power over it was gone. A part of her was grateful for that. Some of her memory fragments were from before she met the Titans. Lonely days of being afraid of her own powers. She never told her parents about the memories. She was a different person now. She had friends and family and thought she could let Terra rest in peace.

Then Beast Boy found her.

Deep down she knew why he was so desperate for her to remember. They had been close friends. They had almost been more than friends. She had to convince him that she wasn't the girl he thought she was. Talking with him helped to fill in some of the gaps and let her know more about who Terra had been. It had still been hard for both of them. He wanted her to remember and she wanted him to let Terra rest. The dirt clod to her face didn't help matters.

He had come back the next day, like the cat from a song her adopted father liked to sing. He followed her everywhere but the girl's locker room, trying to get her to remember being Terra. She finally convinced him that she wasn't who he thought she was. She wasn't a hero. She was just an ordinary girl.

That had been last week and she hadn't seen him since, except on the news. A part of her almost wished that he would come back. The rest of her was glad the earth moving Teen Titan could finally rest. Her name had been Terra, now it was Sarah Miller, and she was living the normal life that Terra had always wanted.
