A/N: This actually started out as the story where I introduce my OCs, but it turned into SonAmy fluff :D Enjoy!

Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy were lounging around on the beach near Station Square late one evening. As usual, Amy was clinging onto Sonic's arm.
The sun was setting over the emerald coast, casting an pink/red glow over the perfect beach. The crystal clear water reflected a rainbow of colours. Hundreds of different shades and hues, each one twinkling like the stars they would soon reflect. The clear, orange and pink sky was clear but for a few wisps of white. The distant noise of the car engines in the city were the only sounds that reached the beach, apart from the gentle wash of the waves that lapped the shore.
"Sonic, isn't this romantic?" Amy breathed, resting her head on Sonic's shoulder. Sonic looked round at Tails and Knuckles, and they exchanged exasperated looks.
"Er, yeah, Amy. It's, er, really romantic."
Amy grinned.
"You really think so? Oh Sonic..."
Sonic watched Amy's eyes reflect the sparkling ocean. Obsessed and clingy she may be, but deep down Sonic knew that Amy simply didn't know how to express feelings in any other way. He had grown fond of Amy over the years they'd spent together, and try as he might, Sonic knew he couldn't run from her, or their feelings, forever.

From the moment he had rescued her from Metal Sonic, they'd been great friends.
Soon, it had become more than that, although he didn't register it, and certainly wouldn't admit it. Not even to himself.

Sonic pondered this for a while, he didn't register how long, but he realised with a shock that the sky was no longer orange, but now deep blue. He looked around at Tails and Knuckles, only to realise they had gone. Sonic chuckled, knowing they'd probably left so Amy could torture him. Looking down at Amy, he noticed she'd fallen asleep.
After gently prising his arm from her grip, he put it around her shoulders and stroked her back gently.

Amy stirred and slowly opened her eyes. They widened as she noticed how late it was, and that Sonic was still beside her.
"Sonic?"
Sonic looked down at her and smiled.
"Hi Amy."
"You're... still here?"
Sonic let go of Amy's shoulders and lay down on the sand, putting his hands behind his head as a pillow.
"I was just thinking... You were right Amy, it is romantic..." He took Amy's hand. "And I was also thinking... do you maybe wanna go running with me sometime?" He shut his eyes, ready for Amy to scream manically. When this didn't happen, he opened one eye cautiously. Amy was just looking down at him with a shocked look on her face.
"You- you really mean it?"
Sonic opened his other eye and propped himself up on his elbow.
"Yeah, Amy. I do."
Tears welled up in Amy's eyes.
"Oh Sonic!"
She flopped down on the sand next to him and hugged him tight.

"Knuckles!" Tails shouted to the red echidna, "I'm worried about Sonic! He didn't come back last night! Do you think Amy hugged him to death or something?"
"Let's go check it out."

Knuckles and Tails arrived at the beach, and their jaws dropped when they saw Amy and Sonic asleep side by side, with Amy's head resting on Sonic's shoulder, and Sonic's arm around Amy's shoulders.
"I guess we should leave them alone, huh." Tails said quietly.
"Yeah, I think we should."
