"Shit," Flack muttered, looking at his watch.

Angell frowned. "What?"

He sighed. "I'm supposed to meet my sister for dinner in twenty minutes, and we've still gotta drop this stuff at the lab."

"I can do it."

He paused. "You sure?"

Angell grinned. "Yeah. You'll owe me, of course."

"Of course." He handed her the evidence bag. "Just give this to Ross. See what he can do with it."

"Ross?"

"You haven't met Ross yet?"

"I don't think so. First name or last?"

Flack smiled. "Last. Adam Ross. He's good people."

"Got it. Now get going before your sister thinks she's been stood up."

"Thanks, Jess."

"Like I said, you owe me."

"Ross?"

Adam jumped slightly and turned around, frowning in confusion when he saw Angell walking into the lab.

"Um, can I help you?" he asked.

"You Adam Ross?" He nodded, and she held out her hand. "Jessica Angell. Flack's new partner."

"Oh. Right." He went to shake her hand, but then realized that he had gloves on. Pulling them off quickly as a blush crept up his neck, he hastily wiped the sweat off on his jeans before taking her hand and shaking it. "Hi."

She just smiled at him. "Hey." She held out the evidence bag to him. "Got a present for you."

"Oh. Pieces of glass. Great."

"I hear you like puzzles."

"I used to, actually. Before this job." He grabbed another pair of gloves and opened the bag. "I'll, uh…I'll see what I can do with this."

"I'll be back tomorrow." She headed for the door, turning back at the last minute. "Nice to meet you, Ross," she said, a small smile on her face.

His blush deepened. "You too," he called after her.
