Disclaimer: I don't own the awesomeness that's known as Scrapped Princess.

Notes: Inspired by the events of episode 16… Partly since I was thinking just how cliché the whole amnesia thing was, and wondered if it would be more interesting if it were all just a guise.

There were plenty of words that came to mind when Fulle tried to describe her. Selfish. Lazy. Air-headed. Hot-tempered. Clumsy, conceited, childish. A bratty little...he would almost have said princess, but no, that was ridiculous: a princess probably had more class in her pinky toe than this girl had in her whole damn body.

She couldn't cook, she screwed up the laundry, she couldn't so much as make tea without scalding herself. And one time she'd kicked him in the crotch without any signs of remorse. Fulle chuckled to himself. No man with any sense of self-preservation would want her for a wife.

Yet he didn't mind her. The girl was a pest, a nuisance, but not an altogether unpleasant one...if that made any sense. He might even go so far as to say he enjoyed her presence.

Fulle was glad that she had tagged along...that she had followed him out of the wreckage. And in lieu of her real name, he'd christened her Pamela. After all, she was laughably similar to the cat he once had. Both strays, both picky, both convinced that the world revolved around them.

Once he thought hard about it, he came to a conclusion. Pamela the cat was no more, and this girl, this Pamela, had become someone that he cared about and wanted to protect. Did he see her as a sister? As a friend? Or maybe as something else? He couldn't say for certain, but he did like watching her sleep...watching her steady breathing, and knowing that she was safe and sound.

Meanwhile, Pamela—rather, Pacifica Casull—wasn't really asleep. She hadn't forgotten her past, either; she had merely forsaken it. For now.

She lay there thinking until she felt Fulle's presence leave the room, then rolled over and sighed heavily. Was it so wrong to want to live as a normal girl, just for a little while? Sure, she missed Shannon-nii and Raquel-nee like crazy. But at this point, how was she supposed to find them? She was lost; she was drifting; she was powerless.

Or was she just making excuses?

Well, she thought drowsily, this Fulle guy isn't half-bad. Living with him is actually pretty nice. So until my big brother and sister come for me...it's hard, but I can keep playing make-believe.
